A custom tune IS a reflash.

Are you asking if a custom flash makes a nice difference over a base flash, then the answer is "yes."

Frankly - on that 91 octane Cali **** gas I would consider a custom tune maditory - however many of my customers simply prefer the base flash which is why I offer it

The gains are really not the issue betewen the two tunes

I have found that in cali - at least when using pump gas - the real art of the tune is avoiding knock which takes a bit of tuner art in working the a/f and timing to find how each car can run the most power through the power band while not triggering the factory knock activity

This results in very smooth cars which do not knock and which do not pull timing

Apperently the local evo owners there are happy to run a AFC and have massive amounts of knock and timing pulled if the car is making power

This is not the proper way to tune a car and results in a rough power band with no TQ

This is why custom tuning is helpful to actually measure the knock and see if and where the ecu is pulling timing

The base tunes are very good and work without problem - the custom tune takes it a step further

Yes, I love to have street tune by AL just like my EVO 8. but I am too late for this time, there is NO time for me to get in the list ! Just like AL said I will have more mod in the future, so when next time AL in L.A. , I will be the first one on the list for street tune.

if there is anyway I can be squeezed in, I have already paid for my flash, I just wanted to get it dont in person rather than being with out my car for a few days, plus, im on that cali **** gas. which is cool with me, cause all the baeutiful hunnies make up for it, and the beaches, and the parties. lol

You don't have to get squeezed in. Base flashes can just show up whenever and get done as long as it's during the custom tuning hours. Preferaly, show up at the beginning/end of a timeslot.

well if Al can't tune the car safely on 91 without a custom tune, then I want to work something out so I can have a safe tune

What do you mean? Did someone say that? He has done plenty of mail-in flashes for 91oct cars.

He also does a quick test drive after each base flash when it's in person to make sure everything is kosher.

We talked about it last night. He can either add a day to this trip, or he can come back again soon after doing a good job this time.

What would you guys prefer? I've already had several guys show up who wanted tunes but were too late to get on the schedule.

No reason to fret. If it makes you feel any better, I'm doing the base flash too . So let's ping and detonate together...brother.
