Evo 9 dynoed 304/304 Mustang Dyno
Evo 9 dynoed 304/304 Mustang Dyno
Hi Evo fellows,
I took the Evo 9 (from evo9grl) today to a brand spanking new Mustang Dyno. The shop is a brand new shop that just opened in Tucson, IAPERFORMANCE.
First of all the car, GG regular Evo 9 with 5k miles, mods:
Buschur Cone
Forged MBC
Greddy Evo II 3" catback
Megan Racing 3" Downpipe
3" HF cat
Dynoflash mail-in base flash
We rolled in with 91Oct gas, boost was reading around 20psi on the defi.
First run we did:
280whp/290 tq(21.4psi peak dropping to 15.6psi)
Then I turned the boost to (23.8psi dropping to 17.4psi)
303whp/300tq
The I turned the boost I little more 25.5 psi dropping to 18.5
304whp/304tq
Keep in mind this last run it was at my own risk, we basicly did not achieve more power or torque above 23psi.
My personal opinion is that we are very happy with the mail in flash by Al(Dynoflash), the car runs strong and reliable. We will be retuning the car(custom tuning) this month and adding a LICP and a test pipe. Please stay tune as I would keep you updated.
Thanks everyone and two thumbs up for my tuner and for Steve at IAperformance.
Rob(fastrob), I got a message for you, wait until you get tune, you wouldn't regret, I can see you puting also 300tq plus.

Obviously I was not making any more power with more boost.

Nice numbers Carlos!
Needless to say, Socorro's car was not boosting 25.5 psi. Keep in mind that although my Defi gauge reads 25psi, Al recorded just 20 psi while checking my car to make sure that the PD tune was safe
Still, not bad considering the 6000 ft. handicap, but far away from the 23psi at sea level.

As per the consistent 5psi drop, I don't really know what to say guys, my Evo 8 MR does the same thing, I can peak 30psi then I will be at 21psi by absolute red line(8000-8100rpm) and that is a 9 psi drop.
Another thing whichis my own theory, the car is producing instant power/torque whenever the Mivec shines casuing the turbo to rapidly following the engine fast reving rpm causing it to spike violently.
Other than that I really don't have an explanation, this is my 13th Turbo car I owned and I really really don't see any deficiency on the way this turbo is performing. To be honest I have seen some worse surging in other turbo cars I owned . I am using the heavy duty spring on the Forged MBC.
My second related theory is that the cat is robbing somehow the eficiency of the turbo in the top end but again that is just me throwing some ideas.
I order a couple of things that Evo9girl does not know and that will help the turbo to spool up faster and perhaps(who knows) maintaining the boost higher.
Give me some time and I will see if I can scan the dyno sheets, otherwise you have my permision to get the dyno data from my Evo 9 from IAperformance
Take care guys and girls and thanks for the input.

I am hoping for a conservative 15whp when adding the LICP , test pipe and custom tuning.
I will be taking the car to the dyno again, give me 10 more days and I will show you guys the results again.
