Warrtalon,

I'm thinking about driving up from TX to get tuned. How will my tune be affected with the altitude difference when I get back to TX? Will that be taken into account?

I don't think it's a good idea to get custom tuned at a drastically different altitude. Yes, it will make a difference, and there's no way for him to account for it during a custom tune I don't think, because the custom tune is specifically designed for the exact conditions at that point in time, and altitude makes a huge difference.

I will ask Al what he thinks.

Warr, I have an AEM intake should I switch it out before the tune? I have heard bad things about them and want to get the most out of my tune. Thanks

You take the AEM intake off right now and run the stock intake, but re-install the AEM right when you get tuned. I think Al likes the AEM - it is one of the intakes he can tune very well.

Because you're not supposed to run an intake while untuned. It's bad for your car, your tune, your drivability, your power, etc.

I will need a re-tune after adding cams and Buschur intake. How much for existing customers to get re-done.

Also, do we need to send in for a time slot? or is a re-tune a show up and re-flash?

There are enough re's in this that it sounds re-tarded......

All the details are in the first post:

03-05 VIIIs
- Base mail-in flash customized for your mods and a brief drive to ensure quality = $175 (no appointment)
- Custom road tune for new customer = $375 (2hr appointment)
- Custom road tune for existing customer = $300 (2hr appointment)

If you just get a base flash for your retune, then it wouldn't be a custom tune. You get those free for life, but I would think you'd want a fully custom retune for the cams and intake.

What happens if after I get a custom road tune and something breaks on my car that is covered under warranty. Would the dealer know I have the reflash? Can I send it in to get reflashed back to stock before I take it in. thanks

Yeah, alky also needs a fully custom tune, but you can add cams and get by with a base flash. Whatever you do, don't add cams and remain on your same tune. I suggest getting your free base flash update when Al is in town if your cams and/or intake are installed.

TwstdEvo, this trip is partially for you, bro, so don't worry about a thing. As long as your car is here, Al will tune it as per our promise.

Hash, yes, you can get free reflashes to stock whenever you want, but the dealer really has no clue how to find out if you have a flash. Technically, there is a method to check with a computer to see if the code has been altered, but even if they figure that out, they have no idea how to see WHAT has been changed. Like, they don't know if you've had a P0300 fix or a complete custom tune.
