Sounds like he was saying don't break my car. :-P

Al on a side note, you said it had a welded TCase, and no rear driveshaft so to the other guy asking the dealer had to have known to weld it and remove the rear driveshaft. Also, you say it is totally destroyed but if it is welded, and dshaft removed... Wouldn't it have less drivetrain loss and perform like it came from the factory as FWD?

Would think yeah it sucks he bought a car built for handling but he could make it an even faster drag car now?

What did it put down?

Man that sucks! I test drove a few used 03s before I bought my new 04. I was too afraid to get one that was beat and wanted to break mine in properly and all that. Tales like this make me feel it was worth the extra cash for the peace of mind.

Kinda sucks for the guy but can't help but think how stupid he was, not even checking out the car before buying it. If you're buying a used car you would at least check for oil leaks under the car. If he had, he would've noticed the apparent absence of a drive shaft. Either he didnt go through the car thoroughly or he didn't know what he was looking at or he was so damn excited that he's getting an evo that he just went and signed the papers without even a test drive. When I bought my Miata used it took me about a couple of hours or so looking over the car. I test drove it, had the dealer put it on a lift so that I can check the underside for leaks, rust etc, and phoned a few people to ask for anything else I should check. After that, I walked away for a few minutes to think it over and then decided that it was a great car for a great price and signed the paper work.

Also - the car was in a real bad accident and had some serious body problems

Alst not least - the odometer was obviously tampered as the car seemed to have at least 30 - 40 K but he had 11 k on the clock

Probably the most economic way to get your Evo 1/4 mi times down

so instead of just getting in some trouble for selling a busted car, it could be a salvaged title, and arrested and sued big time for tampering with the odometer.

Give me a break......This guy might not know anything about cars. Alot of people dont. You wouldnt think he was so stupid if you were there and met him like I did. You would know that he was in the military and protecting our right to even own a car.....people who kick a man while he is on the ground are pathetic..........Ray

Hey man - your a great guy and you impress me with how you have reacted to this situation - it must be your military back ground !

I agree the car was actually running great after the tune and it pulled really hard so I think the engine is sound

in order to restore it to AWD you need to get a new viscous coupler which resides in the front transfer case and install that along with a rear driveshaft

If your carfeull you dont even have to revove the trasnfer case to install the coupler

I am not sure IF I would convert back to AWD as that car is a blast in FWD mode and it seems that snow and rain is not very common out in AZ!

Good luck
