Particular questions I have are:
1. What kind of testing is done? (i.e. in car testing for mail-in flashes, or verifying the flash contents after flashing)
2. Whether or not a faulty ECU can cause this kind of problem (i.e. bad memory blocks that the new flash image uses that the stock image does not)
3. What the policy is on flashes that simply don't work. Is there a replacement/refund guarantee?

Go to the dynoflash website, call the phone number, or even better send them a certified letter stating your case requesting a refund and you may very well have had this settled a long time ago. I'm pretty sure Al gets about a million pm's on here, quite easy to overlook or perhaps not even receive some every now and then.
Now if you talk to him and he tells you to shove it, then post up about it

There ya go newbs, somebody other then me said it! AND he put it in simplistic newb writing for ya'll.
I don't understand why you guys are all upset over this customer's experience. Maybe it's easier to ignore this story if it didn't happen to you. I think his main purpose is to simply let other potential buyers aware of his experience and to let you know that he is not very happy considering he spent over 150$ and received no end product considering it's back to stock. Every company should care about customer experience. This isn't the first time I hear negative feedback about Dynoflash and although I understand that some customer's won't be happy if this is a repeated scenario I would recently pay more attention to it and thank this poster for giving me a future warning.
By the way I've heard of these mail-in flashes and to tell you the truth every car is different. If you want a good product I rather take it to a tuner who can custom flash it on a DYNO.
I'm sure you will get ahold of Al. And I'm sure when you do you will get a refund as someone else said on here about his website stating that reflashing back to stock will include a reimbursment. Expect $100 back from him and dont worry about that. As for the initial trouble, whats done is done. It isnt your fault that happened nor is it his. I would say you have a legitimate ***** if he doenst give you that 100 back but until he acutally tells you he wont I wouldnt worry about it. By the way, did you infact have the P0300 dealer flash and forget to tell him before sending in your ECU???
For the 100th time, if you have an issue, and can't seem to come to resolution through PMs or whatever, then PM me so that I can take care of it. This is an EXTREMELY rare case, and I personally have not heard of this happening before. I have no idea why the ECU wouldn't work after the new flash, but there was obviously something wrong. Of the thousands and thousands of flashes Al has done, this happens less than .1% of the time. It is not right for you to pay for all that and end up with a stock ECU, so I will work to make sure you get that refunded. However, almost every time something like this happens, there is a WHOLE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY that is never told by the customer. I will find out...
Ksattic, don't let this deter you. As I said, Dynoflash has done thousands of flashes, most of which were mail-in flashes. He does truckloads per week and sends them out the next day after receiving them. He cannot actually test the ECU in a car, because each ECU is keyed for its original car per the immobilizer code. He DOES doublecheck each flash to ensure the flash is proper for the customer's mods, octane, and boost. If the flash doesn't work, or the customer simply isn't satisfied, a full refund is given if within 2 weeks of the purchase.
Jedi_Gill, please don't start that mess about custom tuning on a dyno. Al has been doing mail-in flashes for 3 years with great success. I become leery when someone starts a post with "By the way I've heard of these mail-in flashes...." I'm not sure why you'd even be in the Dynoflash forum commenting if you aren't already intricately knowledgeable about mail-in flashes and flashing in general. I would hope you've more than HEARD of "these" mail-in flashes, such as to hear that I ran 12.26@110 on 93oct with my original mail-in flash on stock cams, stock IC piping, stock FMIC, stock injectors, stock turbo, completely stock engine/head, stock intake, etc etc. They do work, and they are left on the slightly conservative side to account for the fact that Al isn't there in person to ensure all the AFRs and timing are perfect. A dyno is never required for custom tuning, so that's not necessary to discuss, but custom tuning is always preferred. Some people can't get custom flashed, though, because there aren't that many flash tuners in the country, and although Al travels all over the country, he can't be everywhere each weekend.

I am trying not to bash AL at all. When i had problems with the going back and forth he was very nice and tried to fix the problem for me it was great. It just never got fixed.
I stated that i had a good product and was happy with his first flash or i wouldn't have went back to him for the second.
I am just kinda mad i never heard anything back from him and i waited this long cause i was going through my messages and just remembered that i never got a refund.
I know 150 isn't a whole lot but we can all remember when we were young and it was. I was just sitting here and figured id try.
