Unless you have someway of protecting your maps....but shouldn't my ecu still be readable?

I don't think this is a good way to get help from Al. You should have pm'd him.

 

I undestand...but it gets old fast when he never responds. I have been trying all day with calls, emails, and pm's......so I posted here looking for an answer.

I am not a tuner so I really don't know but I as I watched the shop trying to connect to my ecu they kept getting a error message and could'nt read the ecu or start reflashing my car. Umm maybe Al has him own code but I wish he would communicate since my car is running dangerously lean and crappy.

That's not good man. I will ask Jestr, the guy who tuned my ECU if there's any way to "unlock it." Worse come to worse, he does mail-ins, he's in FL. So you could send it to him and get him to unlock it, perhaps.

I have a cool tuner but if they are not able to read the ecu then how can then begin the process of reflashing? Is it possible Al has the map protected? However that still doesn't explain 250 whp at 23 psi with my mods and a custom tune?

 

Never heard of Al locking ECUs before - aktivematrix has an unlocker you can try but don't jump to the conclusion yet.

Let me get this straight

You tried calling me all day Sat when I am in Seatle, WA and you did not get an immediate response so you had to post this message

You have some "tuner" trying to remove the map from your ecu and retune your car

Yet your "tuner" could not do his job ? Perhaps, I should call your tuner directly and walk him / her through the process of working with what ever equipment he / she is using and show them how to extract my map and then they can use it as a starting point to learn how to tune ?

If you wanted a more productive reaction from me you should have had more patience to give me a REASONABLE amount of time to respond to what ever question you have with regard to your ecu, tune, power etc

At this point, your Dyno Flash warranty on the ecu is voided as you have allowed some third party to attempt to flash your ecu

Also, I do not wish to assist your "tuner" in learning how to do what I do every day

Sometimes customers can be flat out unreasonable.
I have to say more patience could be excercised. I cannot say I wouldn't be pissed if a customer were to act in this fashion towards me, the customers sometimes forget that their particular car having been done already, is not the center of a tuners universe once he has moved on trying to make a living. Give the guy some time, and lighten up.
