Dynoflash for road racing?

Anyone have a custom dynoflash tune and tracks their car? I'm not talking about stupid drag racing. I'm debating whether I should get a dynoflash or go with a piggy back unit like shiv's xede but I would like to safely run 30mins full speed on a road course without any problems given the basic power mods, mbc (if going dynoflash route), tbe, drop in, 255 fuel pump, possibly a forge dv. I forgot to mention this is for a IX SE, I'm coming from an STI so I don't know much but I've been reading....

I ran my mail in flash from Al in a 20 min session 3 times and all was good. I was hitting 21 psi sometimes 22 in top of 4th. I didnt have the cams but the rest of the mods in my sig. The engine survived all and has 30k on it now.

I have a lot of road racing customers

When you road race the coolant temps usually rise significantly and the car compensates with additional fuel so its generally very safe

I suggest using at least 100 octane fuel in the tank for saftey when road racing

I have successfully tuned many road racing customers who have competed in many SCCA races without any problems

Make sure you advise me of the road racing when you get your tune so I can take that into consideration

Sorry but maybe I am lost here , why wouldn't a Dynoflash tune be safe? what differences does it make if you run a 12 second run on a dragstrip or a 8 hour trip or a 20 minutes sesion on a road course?

Off course it is safe. The tune is bulletproof. Just make sure you have good transmission oil, good shyntetic oil, good gas and that your cooling system is working properly. Last but not least, the drag racing is fun, I don't see drag racing a stupid event.

There are other driving events that puts the tuning to the test. Ask anyone from AZ what a Friday/Saturday midnight Mount Lemon driving event is about.. That is about driving your car uphill from 3000ft to 9000ft for about 20 miles full throtle

Check it out man, you gotta head things up if you want Al to come up. He has to come out from Conn. and the trip takes time to plan as well as arrange. So if you want a tune from ( Just my experience.......i have only been into cars for like 9 years) one of the BEST tuners, your either gonna have to wait for him to get out there when some one else gets 5 people togeather, or your gonna have to do the foot work. Just make sure you have some good sun block for Al if he is coming out in the Summer......he ain't use to the AZ heat so i know cali might kill him LMAO (right Al) .

I have a belief that drag racing is boring going in a straight-line, you can't beat a road course, of course I was terrorized by Evos when I had my STI in drag racing, but when it came to a road course I would often lap Evos

Thats funny cause I have actually lapped my cuz in his STi on the Jefferson circuit at Summit Point. Its a the short course they have there. The only really difference between my EVO and his STi is I run Forodo pads and he had hawk. I had Yoko Tires and he had Bridgestone. I have JIC coilovers and he had Tein. I had The cams and he had a upgrade turbo. PE 20g. I usually pull one car on him to about 100. so u cant say its the added power.

because 12sec vs 20-30min track session is big difference.

To the OP,

Dynoflash will be just fine for your purposes. After all, what you want your tuner to do is to leave a bigger margin of safety for road-racing. In other words, just make sure that your tuner aims for the conservative tune with safe AFR and Ignition Timings along with no crazy increase in Boost. I do suggest that you stay w/ stock boost level from 20~21psi. Just my 0.02

I'll also vouch for it being fine. I've run willow springs with a dynoflash and similar mods. I put in 100 octane for safety's sake, as track temps can easily get over 110. No problems whatsoever.
