'07 STI vs Evo IX round II

Here we go again - same dyno - both cars on pump gas

'07 STI - Full Exhuast only (stock upipe) - AP 2 Pro Tuned

'06 Evo IX - intake, mbc, fp, dp, hfc, catback, 22psi, 93 octane cossie cams, head studs, custom dynoflash

This time the Evo is clearly the winner - but he had more mods

The evo customer added intercooler pipes and a adjustable wastgate actuator and made even more power later - did not compare that sheet

It would seem that the STI has the down low advantage but the Evo kills it in the top end

Nice to see Al. Maybe this will calm down some of the people that were so upset about the last comparison. The evo may have more bolts ons, but some of the those bolts on would not make a difference on the STi or are no available for it. Either way we all know the Evo reacts better to bolt ons and still has more available that work great with the stock setup. The 07 STI is still a great platform and is much improved. All of this coming from a previous STI owner BTW. Like I stated in the last thread, I like the fact that the STI is improving and it will get into the 11's as soon as more parts, tuning software, and more people start modding them.

I'm impressed, wouldn't mind having a new STI in my stable.

Here is a test of the stock exhuast manifold vs a perrin equal legnth unit

The car is stout

Which one has the Perrin EL on it? I loved my 04 with the perrin EL. I had a deadbolt SZ55 with supporting mods. I made 412whp on a low reading mustang on 91 plus meth, but the motor was going **** up due to a very rich tune that I believe possibly caused bore wash. How else do you explain low compression on all four cylinders? So I traded her in for the Evo IX so I could try something different. I was tempted to get an 07 STI, but the cost and the fact that it was tired of taking almost an hour to change spark plugs and check compression was getting rather old after a while...LOL

The faster spooling one is with the perrin el header which really seems to work great

So the 07 has the Perrin EL's. You can definately see the difference. I know there are way more supporting mods on that GT35R setup than what you have posted. Those are good numbers on 93 octane. Have you done any Evo IX's with a GT35R setup on 93 for comparison?

^I am also interested to see if you have tuned any EVO IX with a gt35r on just 93 pump gas.

I'm sorry, but once again I have to question some things. Al you have made more power from IXs with out cams, and this one has cams. I mean a IX with 91 octane just made 361whp with Cams and your DD dyno reads similiar to Dyno Jets. I mean I hate to say it, but all these comparisons between STIs and EVOs is only showing me one thing, and that is that perhaps your ability to tune IXs is off lately. Oh no I said it, time to get flamed by the Al fan club.
