LOL My quote lives on.. Anyway, Its not attached to the roof, the main hoop comes very close to the headliner.. the side bars go down passed the door panels to the floor by the kickpanels.. there are two more bars that will (or already) go down from the hoop section through the package shelf and into the trunk, usually to the location near where the strut towers are
If this were a full cage, it would also have additional bars that go over the doors, by the A-pillars and down to the floor where the side bars also run.
I honestly couldn't imagine the rear seat getting much use, Al, you might have asked that they use the clevis hardware (the swing-out sections) for your rear cross-bar, this way you could remove it to allow leg room for rear passengers when you want to drive a few people around.. It should still be NHRA legal, I have an 8 point bar in my Malibu and did all that research in 2000.. Eh, that cross bar looks high enough for most knees to fit.. LOL

I'd keep it shiny side up if I were you...

Everything came out great with the cage - its a great enhancement to the handling and "feel" of the car - you would be suprized how much slop and movement there is in our bodies - this really stiffened up the back section and improved the control and feelling of the back end
NHRA rules suck the big one - BUT - at least I am one step closer to complying with all of them so I can run my car as many times as I need to to tune it and break some more records
Its a really stupid hobby for sure - but I enjoy doing it

Maybe I should break it down a little bit more for you. When you're sitting in the car, with your helmet on, how much space is there between the top of your helmet and the top of that roll "cage"? From what I can see in those pictures, it doesn't seem to be very much.

Joe

LOL Yeah I figured.. I came really close to considering a rollbar.. but I decided that rear seats on a four door car were more important to me than being legal at the track.. I don't intend for my evo to spend all that much time on the track.
