444 whp on Buschur Flash Stage 4 w/ BR 500 turbo

I was amazed today with the results with the BR turbo - here is a car with ZERO internal engine mods (expcept the cams) - just the BR Stage 4 and BR500 turbo kit

We did one about 10 days ago that had some mis matched non Buschur parts and the car seemed to lag bad between shifts and just did not make any power

This car had zero lag between shifts - was fully spooled by about 3800 rpms in 4th gear and was a sheer joy to drive on the highway

Frankly - it could have made well into the high 400's if I had stepped on the tune some more. We take a very conservative approach to our customer's cars and with the stock head studs and rod bolts we felt this was a good place to stop. The tune here was a very conservative pump gas like tune with fairly rich a/f 's and also very conservative ignition timing figures. (The tuning was done on C-16 fuel for saftey). After it made the 444 whp I decided that was enough power and just stopped trying to make more power and tuned it for street use.

I am glad that we were able to make the power that the kit is supposed to be making and also get the car running very well.

This kit affords a LOT of bang for the buck and a solid 11 second time slip with ease for a very reasonable price. Best of all - all this power is done on the $399.99 Buschur Flash reflash and is a total plug and play bolt in solution.

I hope this result can silence many of the critics who have been questioning the ability of making serious whp figures through the stock MAF sensor. The stock ECU is easily capable to up to 450 whp - just as I have been saying all along.

Good luck - this car I just tuned was a completely different animal than yours. I knew something was wrong with your set up as when i tuned the BR580 which is an even bigger turbo it was very pleasant and lag free on the road and yours had a nasty fall off on power between shifts.

My feeling is the HKS intake necks down too much before the turbo and was choking things off a bit and the forge bov was leaking.

After driving the BR500 kit, its just an amazing set up and it could only get better with the Buschur ported head.

When I tuned Robi's Buschur Flashed Stage 4 in california which was in the recent SCC magazine time attack article, the addition of the Buschur ported head inhanced the spool up significantly even on the stock turbo and also caused a 15 % increase in air flow and whp.

I am thinking that the BR500 with the Buschur head would be a very potent combination - epscially if you take advantage of the upgraded valve springs and spin it a little high in the rpms as this turbo is going to be able to pull steady all the way up to 9500 - we see zero boost taper - it has plenty of top end power

Al, I understand that the car had stock internals but can you post his supporting mods? FMIC, DP, exhaust, upper intercooler piping, intake, etc... Thanks. I am very interested in this setup as I am contemplating a turbo upgrade. Thanks

This car had the entire Buschur Stage 4 kit with Buschur Flash option for an Evo 8 and the Buschur Racing BR500 turbo kit

Nothing else was done to this car

The whole parts list and info is avalable at www.buschurracing.com

The list is here http://www.buschurracing.com/EVO_Stage4.html

Frankly it simply amazes me the genious of Buschur Racing to put together a kit with such few parts that makes so much power and does it so well. Its a blast to drive, its all easy to install, bolts in and is very inexpensive.

Definitely took a wrong turn somehow and ended up in the Bronx Made a 2 hour ride into 5, but it was worth it...The car is amazing to drive now, driveability is the same as stock- actually even better- but it just pulls incredible now...

Spools up quicker than i expected it to, and well i couldn't be happier

Thanks to AL, Dave Buschur, and everyone at Pruven

Glad you made it home ok ! I am glad you like the way the car is running - to me it was very quick - especially in the high rpms

That would have been a very fast race indeed! Can you imagine in the future if these motors get some internal mods and go for more whp????

Evo8power,
Shhhh. Quit making these "before hand" statements. That is often what gets you into hot water and leads to your dissapointment. Just hold your tongue until you have the work done and are happy....

EZ76,
There is no way this is a street tune (if by that you mean a pump gas tune) as it was done on C16 with an 11.8 AFR (unless the customer has access to high octane at the pump). Al, 11.8 seems conservative for race fuel but not pump gas. Maybe I'm just used to AFRs for our crap Cali 91.... But in any event, those numbers are nice! Al, after this, did you run it out of race fuel and tune it on pump gas?

It is good to see the kit working so well. Al,if possible, could you post the torque curve?
