Tuning with the master of AEM EMS - Dave Buschur !
Today I was treated to a very amazing experience
I am in Ohio for the DSM shootout and I have been at Buschur Racing to tune a few evos with the Dyno Flash and Buschur Flash
I asked Dave Buschur to do some tuning on my AEM in my Evo as I needed to fine tune it on the street for the big race on Sunday
I knew this would be a chance to both get my own car running well and also learn some new tricks from the master
I love to work with new tuners and see how they approach tuning and learn new methods for tuning. It helps me grow as a tuner and get better at what I do.
After my dyno day with Buschur in the winter when he simply amazed me with his ideas and insight into 4G63 performance, I knew that a road tune with Dave would be a great opprtunity to learn some more.
I was not disappointed.
Its great that guys like Dave Buschur are willing to share thier hard earned experienc with other fellow tuners can learn.
I can not tell you guys what a experience it is to have the one and only Dave Buschur sitting next to you working the AEM as you are shooting down some Ohio back roads at 100 mph making over 550 whp.
My car was already running very smooth and strong after the dyno work I did earlier this week. It made 555 whp. After Dave was through the car was as smooth as silk - even at 550 plus whp it was very linear and seemless in the power band and the idel was like a stock car - even with the 1000 injectors
If you live in the Ohio area - or any where within driving distance and want a AEM tuned, I highly recomend Dave at Buschur Racing. He is a premier expert AEM tuner.

Obviously Dave knows a thing or two about tuning these AEM's - I was able to break into the 10's! 10.97 @ 129 mph beating the 600 whp AMS Gt35 turbo car by driving around them in the 1/4!
Jason Siebles - the guru of the AEM was at the race - looked at my data log after the 10.97 pass and said - "I wouldn't change anything. . . it looks perfect"
Thanks Dave Buschur forhelping me out with my car !!!!!!
You da man

Just to clarify, it wasn't our shop car that Al raced but a customers car that made 600awhp at 34-35psi but ignition issued this weekend kept him from running full out. That was an awesome race and it was super close (.009 of second I think).
Congrats Al on breaking into the 10's. This is the guy with the Yellow Evo that came to BR and had you tune it (over 10hrs from MN to wakeman was well worth the drive eventhough I couldn't stay for the Shootout). Man...it was a great experience meeting you and most of the BR crew. Special thanks to Dan at BR for installing my new injectors there and didn't charge me for labor. Hey, the car pulls pretty hard this morning on the way to work. Only issue I have is when the car is cold and I start. It stalls and I have to keep the rpm from dropping to low from stalling. Once it's warms up, everything is working fine. I'm guessing the new BR 680 injectors are giving it to much fuel at idle? What's your suggestion?

It was an outstanding weekend. My only regret was the time we spent on our own shop cars before this years race. Too many customers were waiting and I just wasn't willing to spend late night hours on our own stuff. It's all good though, our customers ran well.
I was pretty shocked and flattered when Al asked me to look at his car and the EMS. First Al just mentioned his idle was pretty bad. I told him I was sure I could fix it if he didn't mind, he responed with a "Sure man, please take a look at it." A few minutes later I had it idling really nice. I was worried in the back of my mind that after I worked on it if there were any misses or new issues that I might be looked at as doing it to the car and trying to slow him down. (paranoid I guess) I made sure to mention that I wouldn't look or touch anything other than the idle. I asked Al after the idle was fixed if I could take a look at the rest of the maps. After looking I was pretty sure we could make the car a ton smoother which should also make it faster. When Al said he'd love to have me give it a shot I was really surprised, hell it was already damn fast.
A couple of crazy passes down some back roads and it was pulling like made. 3rd gear pulls to about 9,000 rpm's is how we tuned it. I'm usually a pretty poor passenger, was comfortable with Al driving, real smooth driver.
Anway, can't really tell you guys how happy I am that the car ran so well. What was even better is the two EVO's that were in the finals in the EVO Eliminator class both were tuned by me the day before. Made me damn proud to see.
Congrats Al and Curt.
