Made switch to e85 today

Well The station finally opened up near my work and i was able to pump 11.7 gallons in my tank. I ran the car at idle and watched my wideband. When it started to go lean I changed my global injector scaling down. I am running the fIC 1000's and my trims were good on gas and after driving my trims with e85 are 0,-2.5and -2.5.

My question is if you guys think i should crank up the boost first and log or go for more agressive fuel and timing?

What peak boost are you guys running out there on e85 and what psi at redline?

How much timing were you able to add with the increased octane rating of e85?

did you change your fueling if so why and which way did you go and what were your fuel trims?

I'm thinking i should up the boost first and see how fueling changes and then adjust accordingly. After fueling and boost then try timing.

Any input is appreciated and if you have examples of your experiences you could share they would be appreciated as well.

PS E85 was $3.69 a gallon and premium at this new stations was a hefty $4.77 Shell v power and $4.65 at my local Union 76
TIA

I'm about 5 days behind you. I figure my first step will be to retune the fuel map for my current boost level. Then I'll begin pushing up the boost with needed tweaks to timing and fuel. This way, I can map out lower load cells.

Mr. Fred after my interpretation of everything I read I simply adjusted my global on the Injectors until my trims were and are about the same as they were on pump.

As others have posted i simply subtracted approx. 30% from the global and my trims are the same if not slightly better than with 91. While I have not toally analyzed logs taken while e85 burining, The fuel tables for E85 deliver approx. the same A/F as 91 when the trims are right.

Yep, that's the first step, but be sure to get some logs to verify AFR across the rpm range before messing around much further.

So after doing more monitoring i upped the boost I am now hitting a 320 peak 2 byte load but really in the 280-290 range and right around 26 psi peak tapering to around 22 near redline. With the boost higher i need to tune load cells I never really hit or paid attention to any more. What is interesting is the 4-5k range I am getting mild knock but timing is jumping by as much as 10 degrees between log entries and I believe this fast timing change rather than ramping is causing excessive knock(seen this one before). This is from cruising around then stabbing the throttle though. Haven't really figured out how to smooth this out without removing tons of timing across a broad range of load cells. We will see how it goes...

PS I beleive that with the scaling of the 1000 cc injectors so small to 636 causes the upper rpm fueling to not be proportional or similar to stockish setup. My A/F went way rich by a about a full point (Upper rpm range) with the addition of E85 into the equation.

Anyone else see this?
I'm basically a noob tuner so I'm still learning

I have been searching around and havent been able to find a list of things i need to do to properly run E85. Does anyone know of a post in here that outlines this?

My understanding so far is just bigger injectors and a tune... Anything else?

And a fuel pump, but it looks like you already have that.

Awesome. There is a station about a block from my place that just opened up their E85 pump. I like having options...

guys with AFR's on E85 - do you need to change the gas type in lm programmer?

and then what AFR is good to aim for?

I am still waiting for E85 in my area, but hopefully when it gets here I will be ready
