Running E85, Got P0134

Hey EvoM,

So I installed a wally 255 and I have 750cc injectors.
Thought I'd go ahead and run E85 and see how much more fun
the Evo 8 would be.

I haven't tuned it yet .. wanted to run through the first tank and clean out the 93 but I got a P0134 ..

Anyone got any insight into this?

I really don't think my sensor is going cause I suspected my Evo had a wally in it already so I did this before .. ran 3 gallons of E85 just to see how the car would run and I got a P0134 then too.

Switched it back to 93 and no more P0134.

I have Evoscan and the 1.3u cable so any suggestions I can follow up on.

Thanks.

Oh and one other question. This is an RS apparently and I have this switch in the center that I can set either auto or manual. and when I press it a light on the right side of my dash comes on.
it's a square with like 3 lines of dotted lines. What is that?

Best Regards,
GJ.

As a side note, Yes I replaced the wally 255 that was in there with a fresh one. Wanted to be sure incase it was a wally 190 but after I pulled it and set it beside the one I bought .. almost identical with some variation on numbers.
Meh, whatever .. better safe than sorry right?

Prob threw the code due to not being tuned for e85 And the front o2 going way out of its normal values due to the need for 30% more e85 fuel...

I believe once you get the injectors scaled for e85 and it bringing the values into their normal values it'll go away...

Also 750 are not big enough to run E85, you'll need at least 1000s

One down.

Hey again,

So I started playing with my injector scaling with E85 and it's now at 636cc scaling from a 680cc scale and after another 60 miles of driving no more P0134 yay!

No knock either .. yay!

But oddest thing .. even at WOT I'm not getting to 80% IDC ..

I was told this has 750cc injectors .. but if I'm not hitting 80% IDC with E85 on a 636cc scale .. then I must have bigger injectors right?

I bought this car with all of its mods already done.

It's got cams and gear, that's physically apparent from the side and the V8'ish lop she has sitting idle which would also explain the ghost knocks in evoscan right?

She already had a walbro 255 so why would the previous owner stop with injectors that won't allow over 400hp?

Also does nobody know about the RS and this center toggle switch labeled auto/manual and when you hit auto it puts a corner dash light on that looks like a square with dashed lines?

Thanks.

Best Regards,
GJ.

Are you using a wideband? To monitor your afr's?

And the little green light is for the intercooler sprayer...totally useless!

the intercooler sprayer button is usually used to toggle between the pump gas tune and the e85 tune on evo 8's.

And Kevin based off his log...his maps only go to 100 load...and he's only hitting 20 load at 6500 rpm? Right?

Im professionally tuned w/ RC750cc's at 97% IDC. 382whp/365tq.

I know they are approx 13% from being maxed out. I will be moving up to 1000 or better soon for a retune that will put me into the low 400whp

Peace

Seriously you need to stop experimenting with E85 until you 1. Get a tune from someone that knows what is going on or 2. Get all the stuff you need to properly log you car and read the ecuflash forum for about 3 months straight until you are comfortable with tuning your car. I am not being a dick, just trying to save you from spending some money on another block...

FYI doing the math your scaling with 750cc injectors should be around 480 or so on E85... your latency really shouldn't change...

It was tuned by Derrek from AWD for 93.
I'm making variations of their map while playing with it / learning to tune.

Right now this is where I'm at with 504 scale.

In the 200 load I got 2 counts of knock,
I'm at 93% IDC

This was from doing a 3rd gear WOT run.

Right now she's feeling like alot more fun.
She takes off from the line much quicker and my throttle response
seems better.

I've read MrFreds post about his E85 dealings and saying it felt "soft".
My experience is .. It's made my Evo harder than a 20 year old on viagra.
Going to try 496cc scale and see if that kills the 200 load knock .. if not ..
Timing pulling it is.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Best Regards,
GJ.
