Dsport did a test on it. They found that it was 80%e but made about 5% more power than pump e85. So if you need that extra little bit it is worth it, however if you are just doing your normal day to day not worth the money.

Trying to find the mag. But I am pretty sure they said they did not have to retune.

It's purer so more power and has less corrosion properties than e85.

Seems like a bigger product for older carbureted cars

Since c85 requires more fuel to hit stoich, my bet is its just e90-e98. Not going to be less corrosive unless perhaps they put in some sort of additive. E98 could explain the better cooling effect that they proclaim. Could make a little more power. Probably way overpriced.

Mr. Fred-
In the recent DSport magazine article that was mentioned earlier, the testers found that the C85 sample that was used was measured at 80% ethanol as compared to the nominal 85% ethanol from their control sample (Propel brand pump IIRC).

Not sure what accounted for the increased power or fueling requirement. Check the article out for more info.

Interesting. Maybe VP was suggesting that since most e85 at the pump is more like e75, their 80% ethanol would require a bit more fuel for stoich. New new guess is that instead of being mixed with regular gasoline like pump e85, its mixed with either premium or their race gas.

I was under the impression it was lower water weight ethanol and an oxygenated race fuel mixed in with some stabilizers/inhibitors to reduce corrosion and water affinity.

That was the rumor I heard anyway.

Im about to switch from Sunoco E85 to VP's C85 so interested to hear what people say on this thread, and when I have some dyno figures (early next year) I will report back

Noticed that you're in the UK. How do the prices compare between pump e85 and VP c85? In the states, c85 is anywhere from, 3x-4x the cost per gallon of pump e85.

Just curious.

There is no pump c85 it came out for a while then disappeared so we have to buy tinned from either VP or sumoco (ango american oil)

I thought the big claim is consistency from the VP fuel. I test every batch of E85 I get from the pump. It always goes into cans/jugs before the car, so I can easily sample and test it. My station during the summer is always 85% ethanol. Never bought in winter... because racecar.

For me, I don't see a need to spend 3-4x on fuel when I can do my on QC and be confident in what I am running.
