Hey I can't find the thread on the site anymore, it was titled "ECUFlash for EVO, Subaru, 3rd Gen Eclipse"

it was about a release of a freeware that would allow you to read/flash your own ECU via a connector cable from USB to the ODBII port. Anyone have any updates on this, it was very interesting and it was all user tuneable. Where'd it go?!?!

It was moved/removed for some reason. The project is still trucking along, hopefully we will see a finished cable in a week or so. The software I don't know, software is always tough to give a time table.

I'm sure we will hear something from Jason when it is ready. If not the internet is a wonderful thing and it's surpisingly easy to find stuff with a search.

Everything is still on track. The sw is pretty close to being released (still working on a few more tweaks), but the cables are still in production. Once everything is in order, we will make a general announcement on EvoM and and our company website and on OpenEcu.org.

Software will be downloaded from www.openecu.org. You will be able to purchase interface cables from www.tactrix.com when they are done. Here is a snapshot for the EVO IX:

Will the software include any way to see the knock retard (knock correction) in any way, whether it be in real-time or in a recorded log?

I think the Subie guys have software that can do this. For me, monitoring knock retard is THE most important factor when tuning and that is why I will never use any type of piggyback.

Whether this is possible or not, I'm definitely using this tool when it comes out. Finally, an open source tuning tool for the Evo. Excellent!

It will be possible, but we are going to work on it soon.

 

The interfaces will be ready next week. You can take a look at tactrix.com if you'd like see what they look like, etc.
