This is great news from both of you!

I can't wait to start using this. What I really, really hope could be done is for a way to monitor the knock correction, or knock retard, that is being done by the ECU. Possibly even find a way to set a value for the knock retard where the MIL can be flashed.

Eager to get started,
Eric

The subaru version logger can log knock correction so I don't see why somebody can't make the same type of thing for mitsu.

I have some questions before purchasing the cable:

How does the interface cable hook up. The usb and I'm concerned with the whitereflash connector shown here:

Where would this plug in exactly?

Also what drivers need to be installed for the various evo models..both US and JDM. Is their any documentation for such installation?

Finally, are their any other 'test mode' conectors that need to be linked before starting the ignition? I know on the impreza's they show 2 green connectors...but i do't know what's the scenario for Evos.

There are two plug under the dash by the driver's right knee. One is the OBD-II port, the other is the magic ECU data port.

Apparently the cable uses a standard USB client chip that should work on Windows+Mac+Linux.

There is another port by the OBD2 port. That is used when you are putting the ecu into flash data mode. COBB tuning uses that same thing with the accessport on Subarus as well.

It's really easy to start learning about your EVO interface. I am pretty sure you know where's OBD II connector is located? It's another white connector beside it. That connector holds the programming voltage pin, to put your ECU into programming mode when you are ready to flash your ECU. I will also be working on an instruction manual and the basics of EcuFlash.

That connector is somewhat like Subaru "test mode" connector, but with the mitsubishi, it's integrated with the OBD II connector. And that programming voltage pin is controlled by software of EcuFlash.

Where do you guys think would be the best place to learn where and/or what the addresses are?

Or should we wait for a template file?

Are there any books or online resources to learn? I have the "How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems" by Motorbooks Int.

Well, that's the hard part. You have to know ECU code and find everything through disassembly. As mentioned in this thread, a lot is already done, and I'm sure more and more will be added as we go along.

Now that we mentioned this, what disassembler is being used and is there anything that the general community can do to help out?

Eric
