It probably will not be converted specifically for the Mac, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some Linux compatible variant turn up eventually, and in that case, it could then be converted to OSX. I did read somewhere about a Java version or something to that effect, but since this reads and writes directly to a hardware device driver, and not a standard com port, It has some other things to be worked out first..

I've been talking to colby about it. Porting it shouldn't be a big issue, however the driver it needs has not yet been released for OSX. That is the hold up.

I'm running the ECU Flash software on an old school IBM Thinkpad (T20) with Windows 2000 Pro that I picked up for under $300. So far, so good.

Windows 2000 or Windows XP.. Win98 won't work with the driver..

depending on the model of your laptop, you should be able to run Win2k or XP on it.. I have several thinkpads, 240x's T20's T21, etc.. All work fine with win2k or XP and the software.

Hate to bring up an old thread... but some people say Virtual PC wont work using Win XP on a Mac. There are USB drivers on tactrix's site... I dont see why it wouldnt work. Anyone have any real experience with trying Virtual PC?

Virtual PC doesn't work with INTEL macs. Xp + virtualpc + PPC macs works fine.

correct.

but if you do have an intel mac, then you can get bootcamp, one of Apple's coolest products ever. you can run windows through the mac as an actual OS, not a program. so either way, if you shell out money for either VPC or BC, then you can run the program.

Hondata, a company who does Honda ECU tuning, ran their K-Pro system on VPC and it worked fine. I even talked to Doug about it at SEMA 2 years ago.

Ok, that's all I wanted to know. I guess it's worth a shot if I can find the software somewhere and test it out. No sense in spending more money on a laptop if I can use my great 12" PB G4.

Eff Bootcamp, use Parallels. Way better in my opinion. With bootcamp you have to assign the size of the partition... Parallels grows as it is used, also cool to do a dual monitor boot up with OS X and Win XP.
