Its not rocket science, but it does require a bit of understanding of logic and programming (you don't ahve to be a programmer, just be able to understand what different code means)
Since I didn't have a complete list of memory addresses and functions associated with them (specifically for the hardware components like Digital I/O signal processors and analog I/O (drivers for relays or from sensor inputs) It made the job working with a fairly "unknown" ecu impossible.
What I could tell is that the Lancer ECU isn't all that different than the Evo ECU, but I need to physically see the two and their wiring diagrams and pinouts to see how similar they actually are.
Anyway, I hate to say this, but there's little more I can do at the moment until I can disassemble the rom, and I don't think my current schedule will permit that much time to work on it.
It looks like there are a few tuners out there who know a bit about reflashing the Lancer ECU, Ripp Mods, and RRE are two you can contact, Jason at Mynes is also a great resource since he has alot of experience doing this already, but he's busy and he isn't getting paid for the contributions he's made so understand if he can't get to it right away (if Ever)
The good news is there are TONS of programmers on this forum, and elsewhere, that are probably already taking the code apart to see how it works, and even to modify it to do new and wonderful things.. So Its really only a matter of time before all of this is documented. Understand that this is a revolutionary paradigm shift in the Mitsubishi world, a few months ago, it was thought that this wasn't even possible for someone like us to modify our ECU's parameters, let alone it was thought to be impossible to retrieve the rom Intact without destroying the ECU it came from...

Thanks for the explanation. For what its worth - the 02, 03 Lancer ECU pinout is the same as the EVO pinout. At least the 03,04 EVO. RRE has confirmed that as well as others who use the EVO pinout diagrams for wiring a Greddy eManage to the Lancer ECU harness.
Jason at Mynes took my ROM about 3 weeks ago to work on it, but like you said, he's plenty busy and I'm sure figuring out the Lancer map isn't a high priority. I might just have to start this all myself. I have plenty of programming experience so figuring out code isn't a problem for me. Thanks again for your help and we'll see what else can be done.
