My idle keeps going higher...why?

I noticed after I got my second flash to add cams and a fuel pump that my idle went up from 800-900rpm to 1000-1200rpm. Today I noticed that my car idles from 1150-1550. When I come to a stop from driving, normally at a red light or when I pull into my garage. It eventually goes down, but it climbs back up and sits around 1200-1300. Is this normal? Can I change my idle rpm with the ecuflash program? Will this just be covering up a problem or actually fixing it?

Thanks

Yes, you can change it with ECUFlash. The idle will be different depending on whether you are in neutral or not. Higher in neutral usually, it also depends on the coolant temp I believe.

have you tried a boost leak test? sometimes vacuum leaks cause erratic or high idle. i just did my 1st boost leak test and found a torn open vacuum hose going from the throttle body to the intake manifold(i think that's where it was heading, couldn't see). my idle was jumping up to around 1100, leveling off and then back up for a while, etc.

When my evo is cold and just started, it idles high at about 12-1300 rpm. Once its warm it idles at about 900rpm. That should be normal. My rpm needle would move up and down alot when i was at idle. But that got fixed when i fixed a couple of boost leaks in the air intake manifold. Now it just stays solid.

Your symptoms may be a result of somebody cranking up your BISS (base idle set screw). This is how I used to adjust my idle (pre ECUflash) and I had the same issue. With ECUflash you can return the BISS back to normal and tell the ECU what idle values to target. Works much better.

Remember the base idle speed varies with coolant and air temps

I'll check for any boost leaks. The BISS hasn't been tampered with and these symptoms are at normal operating temp.

Before you try to adjust it make sure that the PCCV, evap em, EGR, or stepper systems aren't malfunctioning first, or else you will be tuning for something wrong and you'll have two problems

I remember my car started to idle from 1300 to 1700 rpm, found the PVC hose off.
Then months later it happened again out of the blue, found the stepper motor was chewed up and melted
