Looking for Base VIII/IX Flash's
I am looking to start playing around with my ECU and also looking for a base flash to start off with. I have a Very stock GG Evo IX and am looking to start off with 100% Stock and a flash.
What is needed, software and cables and such, and where to get a good map to begin with.

Consider the purchase of a flash from Jestr or Dynoflash to be cheap education.
How much per hour does a tuner get for time on the dyno? Far more than $50-$80.
If someone sends you a random tune for free and says it is "tuner base flash X", do you trust it to use as a premise for your quest for knowledge?
Get the tools to control and measure you car. Pick a tuner you trust and buy a mail in flash. Analyze, observe and adapt. Then have a beer and be thankful to have all of these knowledgeable resources at your disposal (oh look, a Mt. Hood Ice Axe Ale. Hmm.. think I will order up a Jestr Tune for a paltry sum).

Get a custom tune from a vendor (Dynoflash,Jestr, TT ect) then you can try fine tuning for any new mods yourself because you will allways have a good map to fall back on in case you get lost.

I do too. That was my point though. Study the map like you would a book. A good technical book will cost $40-50, spend that on a mail in flash. It will be a "lowest common denominator" type of tune. Use it the learn and tweak from. You will see what params change and observe the effects on your car.
