Looking for advice/comments on my log
Having recently installed a wideband O2, high-flow cat, and a Buschur intake filter, I was quite geeked yesterday to do some pulls. Here's my setup:
Dynoflash mail-in (tuned for a stock '03 EVO, 93 octane, with only a K&N drop in filter)
But then w/out retuning, I later added:
MBC @~21psi
Buschur intake filter
Turbo back 3" exhaust
Attached is a file showing two 3rd gear pulls. It looks fine to me, but I'd like some advice about what you might do with this? Do I have room to lean it out a bit? If so, where would you start? Is it too lean at low rpm (3000-3500)?
I'm surprised that the Buschur filter didn't make the MAF run lean like so many have said. I'm also surprised that Al's mail-in (this was way before the E-flashes came out) seems to work fine with all these mods w/out much knocking (2 counts max). These are just my observations... please give me yours too so that I can learn.
Thanks!
Rob

Your car is running on the rich side of things. I am assuming that you are using 93 octane. This is understanable since Al's tuning strategy is to advance the timing and run the car a bit richer. If you want, you can try leaning it out to 11.1-11.2:1 and backing off the timing if you encounter knock. Or you can leave it as it is since it is fine that way.

I'm just a beginner but:
First of all your 3rd gear 4219 - 6906 rpm run time is 4.2 seconds, use something like this as a control to mark your progress with tuning if OCT # remains 100. Keep all enviro conditions same (tire psi/size, boost, temp, terrain)
Your A:F has to be on the rich side from the heavy timing your running.
Your not knocking at all now and have some room to customize for some but before you change anything first decide if you would rather raise the boost psi or stricktly work on the A:F.
I would see what she does with 22-23 psi then smooth the fuel (like only 0.1 at a time), and only pull timing if necesssary
I would personally still mail-in reflash for mods like 10.5 HS or cams however. And one more thing, you should have waited for other mods to add intake because those thing require a specific change of map
