23 psi on untuned EVO IX ok?

Currently have EVO IX with just k&n filter and TBE. I would like to do a mail-in tune, but that requires several runs in 3rd gear at whatever psi I want to tune at; however, will 23 psi untuned put me in the danger zone for the engine detonating? or will it retard the timing so that the tuner won't be able to see the true numbers? Is the stock fuel pump ok for 23 psi?

you should be fine. the car runs so rich from the get go. Yes the boost will lean you out a little but i wouldnt worry. I am surprised your tuner isnt going to start off and then work his way up. Especially since its through email i would think he would do gradual steps or atleast a timing and a/f thats super safe for your boost and then work timing, mivec and a/f up

I got mine tuned over the net, I did the pulls and he adjusted accordingly. I'm still not 100% tuned yet my wideband started messing up so it halted the processes. but he's great to work with, excellent tuner also.

Who are you sending it to for the tune?

To be on the safe side, I'd throw in a walbro 255.

A walbro really isnt neccessary unless you are around the 350+ mark. The IX pump flows pretty well...

there's plenty of EVO 8 guys doing tbe, 23psi via mbc and exhaust on the stock pump. The walbro 255 is about 90 bucks and necessary beyond that when you start doing fmic, cams, porting, turbo
