Why the hell won't my computer install my cable?

This is the thrid computer I've put it on, and the first one I've had trouble with. THe install wizard can't find the hardware?

It's like the computer refuses to find the drivers. Help me before I break something.

Have you tried installing the drivers manually?
The first issue of ecuflash 1.29 had a problem in that it didn't install the drivers, I think I had the same problem with one of the earlier versions as well.

Either download V1.29a, or install them from the control panel.

It's my new laptop, so I'm sure I downloaded the newest available version of ECUFlash, unless the link on thie site has recently been updated...? It runs on XP.

Does it have to be plugged into the car and have internet access? Stupid question, I know, but the more I think about it the more I think it's user error... I've tried loading the driver with the cable on the car and the keys in the "on" position, but no interent connection and I've tried in my living room with the cable plugged in with internet an internet connection, but no EVO...

You should be able to plug in the cable, with xp automatically running the "install new hardware" wizard.

Try uninstalling the software and re-installing it.

Yeah make sure the ECUFlash software is installed first, and make sure the installing driver wizard comes up when you install ECUFLash, otherwise go into the ECUFlash

(usually c:\program files\openecu\ecuflash\drivers) and run the driver install program again before you plug in the cable..

Then plug in the cable BEFORE you attempt to run ECUFlash.. Let it recognize it.

If that doesnt work, take a quick attempt to install the software/driver/cable on another machine just to make sure your cable is okay.

Wow, I have no idea to my 2 week old install of ECUFlash, but I re-installed and everything went great. The install wizard used to not install the cable, but it went off without a hitch this time.

Thanks a ton guys!

Ya know, this happens to everyone on occasion.. Installers aren't perfect and neither are programs. As long as it works now, thats all that matters.
