I love my Blitz SBC.
Has peak/hold built in. Great display. Graph's your boost run for you at a hit of a button.

Setting the thing is a little advanced, but I don't see a problem getting rid of taper. In fact I think it's much more adjustable than the MBC's and much more capable of screwing the stock taper.

If I buy an EBC fer my evo it'll def be the blitz. I wouldn't expect taper to be any sort of concern after that.

OK, finally got a chance today to install the Type-S and do a few quick pulls. There is still boost taper, but not as bad as with the stock solenoid/stock boost control. The log below will show a comparison of the stock boost and the Type-S boost, overlayed, so you can see where the taper is reduced with the EBC.

Since the EBC even showed taper down to 17.6 psi, even with it setup to eliminate taper and boost spikes (gain all the way to the min setting), that tells me that either my stock plastic BOV or stock wastegate actuator may be producing the remaining taper. The stock turbo should be able to hold past 17.6 psi to redline. Another possibility could be small boost leaks.

Anyway, here is the graph. When I get more time to set everything up and do a few more runs, I will post my final results. Perhaps I will test for boost leaks and may be replace the BOV, too. I like doing one thing at a time to show what the real bottlenecks in the system are.

i still think you'll have taper trying to hold above-stock boost levels to redline. it's the turbo, not the boost controller. at lower boost levels(under 20, a good manual could hold to or close to redline), yes, it is the form of control. at higher boost levels(22+), the turbo simply runs out of steam top end.

Can you explain how a turbo "runs out of steam" and can't make higher boost?

good test l2r99gst,

Seems like you can get boost to hold fairly more through the mid range 19 vs 16 through the mid range.

Anyways keep us posted when you test for boost leaks, or get rid of your plastic BOV, let us know man good job.

when your head/cam/engine combo are flowing more air at 7500rpm than your 16G turbo can keep up with.
