Question How to change Idle RPM?

I find it a bit annoying that my IX idles at about 1500 RPM until it warms up, so I tried to change it using the "Desired Idle RPM - Neutral" table, but it seems to have no effect. Originally it had these values:

Temp / RPM
-32 / 1993
-8 / 1734
7 / 1445
20 / 1289
34 / 1133
50 / 742
77 / 508
82 / 508

It certainly appeared that this is what the engine was doing as it warmed up, so I figured I found the right table. I changed all the values to 742 to see what would happen, but it continued to idle exactly the same way. Has anyone else played with the idle and figured out how to change it?

I dont think that table corresponds to cold start though. That table DOES work for when the car is warmed up however.

Try adjusting your BISS on the Throttle body.

Then why would you want to adjust the idle in the first place when the car is designed to idle high when cold?

Uh.... every internal combustion engine idles high when cold. They have to run rich to stay running while cold, and if you lower the idle, it'll stall out.

Remember old school engines with carbs? You have to use the choke when it's cold, otherwise the engine won't catch when you try to cold start. The choke richens the fuel mixture up and also causes the high idle.

there certainly are cold start idle parameters that can be modified...

there's 3 idle control parameters you can adjust ..

1. idle neutral - AC off
2. idle neutral - AC on
3 idle - Drive AC on

I've never had to change the idle on a IX but trying with my personal car, after changing all the figures for idle adjustment, i have YET to see any results. Sticks at factory idle even after fully warm, after turning on/off multiple times throughout the week, and noticed that the throttle seems to react slower when revving in neutral. Odd..

These are the idle settings I am running and the car idles great. Seemed a little too low with the factory settings.

This is on an 03 VIII. The column on the far right is RPM Drive
The column on the left is RPM Neutral
