Hanging Throttle, and the "cruise control" effect [POLL]
mine does this too. I emailed Robispec since he does a ton of road racing. he said to unplug the clutch switch, which seems like it might have helped a little bit but he problem still exists. I recall my car doing it in stock form but only sometimes, because I could recall the car feeling like it had some brake assist or somethign because it would slow down so much more drastically.
Here is what I know about the problem:
1) Fuel is being deliver when you are off the throttle.
2) It only hangs above the 3500-4000k rangeduring downshifts or letting off the gas, sometimes if you accelerate hard in first and then get on the clutch and brake it can hang, if you are on the gas and slide the car out of gear with out the clutch, it will hang. 3) While its hanging, if you tap the clutch pedal enough, just enough to disengage cruise control(which obviously doesnt exist) it will immediatly start engine braking. let off the clutch and it can go back to floating. (This varies on condition)
The other thing is that there are a few switches underneath the dash related to the clutch pedal. The one up high is called the Clutch Position Switch. It is a pop out style button. When you push the clutch, the button releases. Let it back out and the button is pushed in. This button seems to be directly related the our condition. I was told not to unplug though. I think it controls the stationary rev limiter (two step) and also cuts fuel during shifts or something like that. I am not very certain of its function in detail. But I am pretty confident that it has somethign to do with the pain in a** hanging throttle we are experiencing.
For guys out there with widebands, go out and make the throttle hang, then while its doing that, press the clutch lightly as described above. See if the AF changes an goes completely lean. From the numbers I have heard from others and the stock maps I have seen, I want to be able to ascertain whether its a hardware issue, software issue or both. I ahve also heard that people who have changed their clutch line have eliminated the issue
