Hanging Throttle, and the "cruise control" effect [POLL]

I am setting this up to get some sort of empirical data as to what cars do this and who is experiencing it.

This is not really a thread to discuss the problem, that should be done here.

If you want, after you vote, make a post and state your mods and/or conditions under which you get these symptoms.

I know the poll isn't perfect, but it may give us some sort of idea...

My car has tbe, mbc, hks intake.

As stated in the other thread. When I put my DV to VTA I dont get the throttle hang. I am interested to see if a different intake would get rid of it. Is it possible that the air from the DV ****s with the MAF?

I have the HKS intake and it is the same deal. If you look at the maf, it seems as though it would not register backwards airflow. Plus it is supposed to measure vortices and not grams per second.

I know YumGTR's car is completely stock. Same issue. Perhaps we can do a little VTA experiment with his car.

You ARE a stalker!!

I only seem to notice it when i blip the throttle to go into a lower gear. ( like third to second for a high rpm corner) When I hit the brakes for the corner it seems like the car is still pushing and fighting the brakes a little. I don't know if I am just not used to a turbo car, but it doesn't feel like I get the engine break that i got with my NA cars.

I noticed this problem the other day after I added a catch can and routed my valve cover breather to after the maf before the turbo. It acted like it was just sucking in alot of unmetered air although it shouldn't have at all. Disconnected the hose and plugged the hole by the maf and put my filter back on the valve cover breather hose and no more problems.

Had this problem since new. Hard pull to above 4000rpm's quickly let off gas and the idle hangs. I know the ecu is giving fuel because I watch it on my wideband. I have heard from a well respected tuner that this was built in to 05+ ECU's to help burn off some of the residual gas in the cylinders after hard accel.

I wouldn't doubt thats true at all. Thank you EPA!!

Now how do we get it to stop. (Discuss in other thread posted above).

Sure it's not a function of the antilag settings?

That would actually make sense. Has anyone played with this? I'll get some time in the next day or so and see if i can test that theory.

i started having this after my custom tune...

At any time that i press the gas and then release, the revs stay there and start dropping AFTER 1-2 seconds...during this time the car drives and feels like i never let off the gas and AFTER this time period it starts to engine brake...

I agree and concur that there is fuel delivery as i see it in my wideband and actually the car has become much more sensitive in gas pedal pressure...

driving on the highway alone is not but and actually i think is pretty cool as in every gear change i think that the car come into boost faster than before... another sign of fuel delivery?

to make the car feel like before when i change gears, i have to completely lift off the gas and press the clutch with a pretty big lag. This way it sounds and feels like a normal car... If i change gears normally then the rpms don't drop and actually rise a little bit...

Mine does it, and it is really noticeable when I am on the highway, and say do a real high/long fourth gear pull, and am over 4K. When I let off from the pull, it's kind of like I only let off about 3/4 of the way, even though I am 100% off the throttle. I kind of like it because you do't get that real heavy jerk from letting off real quick, and the motor rev's down nice and smooth instead of comming down fast.

I dunno, for some reason I kind of like it. If I need to slow down the car faster, well, I guess that's what the brakes are for.
