Pros and Cons Evo Scan VS. Mitsulogger
Pros and Cons Evo Scan VS. Mitsulogger
So whats the pros and cons of each.
I've been out of the mod game for about 6 months. I'm reading about mituslogger mentioned but have no experience with it.. where can i get it? However i do have evoscan.
What do you guys use to view your evoscan logs. Notpad is kindof hard to read them in.

ONRAILS - I know you have been out of the game for a little while but a quick search in the tuning section of the forum can answer this question 50 times over.

Knowing how meticulous Jack is I'd bet on Mitsulogger in the long run. Just tested out v1.0 for the first time this weekend and the in-program load calculation is invaluable with no other disadvantages compared to EvoScan (I use both).

I use both loggers and prefer Mitsulogger over Evoscan. The reason i use both is to do a double check on the tune. I also use Pocket Logger as a 3rd check. I think Mitsulogger is the better of the 3. I am not bashing the other products, just my opinion.
MJ is working on a new release that should be out by next week. he is trying to incorporate the different WB's into the program.

Yep, I will have a wideband release..
Mitsulogger is specifically a Tuner tool, it has no bells and whistles when it comes to gages or graphs, its specifically to be able to quickly capture log files that can be analyzed in data log lab.
The new release has subforms that are actual applications for the Zeitronix ZT2 and TurboXS UTEC and Tuner, Even better is these wideband applications can run standalone if you don't need the MUT logging for whatever reason.
I have the info I need for MTS (Innovate) support for the entire product line, but it will not make this release because of the amount of code that has to be written.
I happen to really like Evoscan, but it didn't suit my needs, and source code was never made available to modify it for what I needed, so I wrote my own. I have no real criticisms of Evoscan, as it does the job and works really well. But I paid money for the rights to source code, that was never made available.
Mitsulogger is free basically because I don't want to deal with a commercial development cycle, meanwhile I'm still meeting the deadlines I've set for myself, and the quality and reliability of the app is as good as any similar commercial application, if not better.
What it comes down to is features and what wideband support you need. Mitsulogger is evolving into a full-blown data aggregation product, so its way more flexible than just as a MUT logger, at least upcoming versions will be.

I haven't really tried Mitsulogger out yet, as I don't know of anything that mitsulogger has over EvoScan aside from the free side of things. But I'll try it out one day when I have time, cause I heard its quite cool.
EvoScan has a lot of COOL factors to it: Cool Zoom/scrollable graphing support, Easy customizable and movable Gauges and GaugeLayouts that can be shared with others. Evoscan will be able to do AYC/ABS/SRS computers, and can read and clear DTCs for 1996/97 Mitsubishis. and will have a DynoGraph built in, so you will no longer need a copy of DataLogLab at all because all the features of dataloglab will be built in. EvoScan has had Wideband suppport for a long time now and does them well.
Either way, EvoScan is only$25 and Mitsulogger is Free, If you are into your mitsubishi cars as much as we at evolutionm are, you'll want to grab a copy of both and have heaps of fun logging and playing with the cool features of each

Oh and there was a reference earlier about the speed of the two, I tested this and on the same Laptop, they both logged at about the same speed.
I have to assume that Evoscan does the same thing as Mitsulogger, and that is, it will send requests as fast as they can be acknowledged.
Evoscan has some really cool features, so its up to you guys to decide what works best for your needs. Obviously Evo4Mad and myself are Evo Fanatics who love doing this, and are really only interested in benefiting the community. We just took different approaches.
In reality I could have added graphing and dashboard features, as I do have components to do that, but the tool I am creating is specifically for Data collection and aggregation, where the analysis can be done with tools much better suited for the data.
The core of mitsulogger is capable of creating logs from any datasource, from Mainframe STTY/PTTY "Screen formatted" data, to serial streams, to TCP/IP streams, to reading log files as their being generated (Tail'ed), and putting this information together in a manner that makes data forensics easier as it consolidates similar data from different locations making connections.
Only the forensic tool does it using a database.
Each one of those components is somewhat universal, but converted readily into tools for logging different types of data on the car.
I specifically left the tool simple and easy to use, something a tuner would have an easy time using when on the dyno or road tuning, where I saw no need to have graphs or gages as an individual tuner would not have the time to look at them, but have to analyze it later. There is a dashboard plugin that will allow In-Dash PC users have a simple digital dash display (Utec Digital Dashboard if you guys remember) but until Finalized how I wanted the plugins to supply data and interact, I didn't want to create anything, but it will have touch-screen one-button logging, and other tools.
Mitsulogger also uses vbScript for its requestID conversions and calculations, this allows you to use any properly formatted VBScript evaluations in the RequestID.XML file. This removed alot of the recursive loops and tokenizing of data that would slow down an application otherwise, that would not perform that well if left to do in VB.NET.
So, there you have it.. Both tools work well, and most of you guys will have a preference of one or the other, but most of you guys will actually have both programs. I do know from feedback that I've gotten that the Tuners like Mitsulogger.
Definitely looking forward to the new features that Evoscan will offer, such as accessing the other ECU's in the car. Its really not something I'm inclined to develop as I've already ordered a MUT-II device for my own tuning. But I may eventually figure it all out and write code for it.

I've already bought evoscan and hope they fix a few glaring issues like the way it doesn't remember the items you want to log and other minor thing but overall it's well worth the 25 bucks. I tune by the logged data, but it is nice to setup rpm/knock/af gauges so you can see what's going on at a glance. I would like to be able to setup an alarm for knock over x amount though so I know when to back off the throttle
(hint to jack)
I'll definitely try out mitsulogger when the new version comes out and later on when you have the Innovate Motorsports WB02 logging working that will be very nice.

Yeah that has been discussed in a thread here before, it was an issue with the v0.97 installer didn't create the empty folder used for saving the settings, if you create the folder it will remember your settings.
