I usd the same cable to. I also know of a site that has STi and WRX maps for free.

I want to tune my 06 STI at some point and my neighbor wants me to help him tune his 02 WRX, however my tactrix wouldnt read his ECU. I know that special block jumpers are needed to write but what is the difference in reading? I guess I need to sell the mitsu only tactrix cable I have now and get a universal one.

I thought they were able to tune other cars. Just don't plug in the second (non OBDII) connector.

we tune sti's...

our 06 sti did 244whp 228wtq (headers, turboback, intake, fuel pump) before the flash...

302/318wtq after the flash at 19 psi on 92-93.

we use the enginuity software..... it has all of the def's written for the newer cars...

you just need the same cable the evo uses... and there is a test connector under the dash on the test... it needs to be clipped together for uploading or downloading, but not logging.

cheers

cb

the sti uses an ignition multiplier, base timing map and timing correction map... it basically adds a percentage of the correction map to the base map depending on engine noise and the % of the multiplier.

You can use the mitsu cable, just get the jumper block, which acts like the test connector on the 06 sti.

when ur ready for the sti let me know, i can help you out with a base file if u like.

Yes, use Enginuity to tune...it can also log now or you can ecuExplorer. Go to the tactrix website and get the test connector, it will be different depending on the Subaru model year. If you do a little bit of homework, you can set up the timing correction map to equal 9.84 or 10, then when you log and see a value other than zero on the knock correction column you know the car pulled timing (a one equals one degree of timing pulled and so on).

Here are the links:

cable accessories: http://www.tactrix.com/

tuning software: http://www.enginuity.org/

logging software: http://www.tari.co.za/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl

You will still have to use ecuFlash to read and load maps onto the ecu, just make sure you attach the .hex file extension.

i think alot of people signed on with cobb to be a pro tuner and are trying to get a return on their investment,

cobb makes a very very nice setup, that offers real time tuning....

We still may become a cobb pt, but, the open source stuff makes the decision difficult.

I read and flashed my little brother's 05 STi with my tatrix cable. I had to spend a good amount of time reading up on it, however, as the Subaru timing scheme is a bit more complicated than the Mitsu setup. Also, ECUexplorer is for the 16 bit ECUs, IIRC (all USDM STis are 32).

I downloaded new definitions and was able to read an 06sti base map. Sickleywicked and me are looking into this for my roommates car. Im going to try to pull his map tonight with my cable, Im pretty sure it will work. I think when sickley tried it with his laptop he didnt have the right definitions and it wouldnt load the map. Also I read about the jumper under the steering wheel column as well.

Now I just need a base flash for him. CBRD I might pm you see what we can do if I can read his map tonight.
