Car stumbling/dying

Well Ive been having this problem for awhile now but with me getting ECUflash I figured I can now solve it, hopefully.

Problem is when I let off the gas on occasion the rpm's drop really low, like 400-500rpm's. Sometimes it catches itself and sometimes it dies. It doesnt do it if Im just coasting up to a stop but does it real bad if I rev it and let off the gas or if Im at a stop and trying to move the car a little bit so Im revving it up to get it moving.

Ive been told its because of the Buschur hard-pipe and its messing with the MAF sensor but is there something I can do to tune it better? If there is something that would help you guys see what my setting are let me know. Right now I have the mods in my sig. Thanks

I would think that the intake pipe along with the cams might be an issue. I know that some people adjust the idle settings for cams to prevent stalling. I'm kind of a noob to this though and sadly cannot tell you anything solid. Good luck on a solution.

Well my idle is set at alittle over 1000rpm right now. Also the car is flashed for 272/264 cams and it did the same thing with them.

Normally I would say you have a boost leak or a vented BOV. The throttle plate could be mucked up, or your cams aren't pulling enough air on the quick decel. If not, I wouldn't know what to say.

Check you idle air stepper motor. It's located on the trottle body under the intake pipe.

Check to make sure you have a full range of motion, if not, you might need a new one. $$$$$$

BTW:

I am pretty confident about my diagnosis, mine went bad with the same symptoms that you are describing.

Do you have a part number and a rough estimate of how much it would cost?

I have the part number at home, the aproximate cost from Mitsubishiparts.com was $300

Mitsubishi part number: 1450A069

I have this same problem, it started a year ago. It would drive me nuts it got even more frequent in the summer with the a/c on. I thought it may have something to do with the plugs, so I changed them about 5 month's ago. After that it would only happen every once in a while and it would not stall just stumble to 400-500 rpm's. Just recently it started again stumbling at least once a day, and now today it died twice. When it started I had an HKS intake, upper IC pipe, jdm mr BOV and mini battery so my issue is definatly not aftermarket cam related. I was also untuned. Now I'm tuned, still no cams but I have quite a few other mods so I'll try the plug route and see what happens from there. I was told that this could be BOV related as well but I have a MR recirc valve and people have said that it has to do with VTA valves so I'm interested to see what other people have to say about this

these are identical symptoms to a dying or dead idle servo. This was happening to me on an increasing frequency until the car would barely idle when hot.

Do you have a picture of what Im lloking for? I just went and looked and I didnt see anything under there that would move?

Just an update but I took it out for a drive today and it wont stay running to save my life. Once at idle its fine, but going from a moving RPM to idle it just wont recover. My vacuum is also at 11 now, down from 15 with the other cams.

Its likley the 280s man. Let 4WheelSlide help you out hes been working on getting my cams idling remotely as well. It took a bit of trial and error since obviously hes not here.

Though I thought of paying for his plane ticket and accomidations

If not a bad stepper motor is most definately a possibilty but with 280s you will get a stumbling crazy idle

Im about 98.5% sure its not the cams as it did the same thing with the old 272/264 setup which isnt that aggressive and it was tuned for them.
