Questions about Evo IX map
no the 3 timing maps arn't warmup/normal/limp - as i said b4 we havn't really worked out why the ECU picks between the maps but I can say that there are 2 modes, the first interpolates between map 1 and map2 the second mode interpolates between map2 and map3...
god knows why its like this, seems like it could have been done simpler without the interpolating...
I have logged the flag which decides which set of maps gets chosen and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for its behaviour...
i guess just make the same changes to each of the 3 maps, (BUT only little little changes as always with tuning...)
neways hope this helps.

1. Jestr: He makes all three high octane ignition maps the same. He believes that the maps interpolates between each other.
2. Shiv subzero flash: makes all three maps the same, but is way more conservative in his timing than Jestr is. I like conservative timing, but I am concerned about making all three maps that same.
3. Works flash: They keep all three high octane ignition maps different but they add 1* timing from load 200 to 300 and 3500 rpm to 7500 rpm to all three maps. I like their conservative timing approach, but I think more changes ought to be done to the timing maps
IMO, the works approach is the best approach until we know for sure how the three high octane maps work together. The three maps stay different but at a slightly more aggressive state of tune. Following their model is the best at the present state of knowledge of the Evo IX rom.
Tuners get away with a lot with the Evo. The engine can take a lot of beating and the ECU is very good at pulling timing to protect the engine from knock. There are so many bad tunes out there, but credit the 4G63 for taking a beating from these bad tunes and still keeps on running.
