Questions about Evo IX map

I have two questions about the Evo 9 stock map:

1. Does the Evo 9 interpolate the ignition timing between the three high octane ignition maps or not? I have seen two tuners (Jestr and Shiv) that make all three maps the same. Works, however, does not. John, Bryan and JCS say that only the #2 map counts. Has this been settled one way or the other? Those who are tuning their 9s what are you doing with the three high octane ignition maps?

2. I noticed that the low octane fuel map on the 9 is LEANER than the high octane fuel map. This baffles me It is the other way around on my-soon-to-be-gone 05. Why is that?

thanks

1) yep, it either interpolates between 1 and 2 or 2 and 3, depending on various conditions - we havn't worked out what these are yet, I have logged the flag and it doesn't seem to change with any meaning (ie WOT, knock)

1) I change only the #2 map. It works for me, and like you said, thats what others recommend.

2) your right the low octane map is leaner. But if you look at the low octane timing map, it is much tamer, which makes it so the low octane map has leaner numbers in it

So which maps are you tuning 1, 2 or 3? Or are you tuning all of them?

That is what I kept reading in this forum, ie, change number two. So you do not touch number 1 and 3 at all? What is the timing profile like on your 9?

2) your right the low octane map is leaner. But if you look at the low octane timing map, it is much tamer, which makes it so the low octane map has leaner numbers in it
That makes it clearer. Did you change your low octane fuel map at all? What did you do to it?

I have tuned maps 1 and 2 with significant changes to what the car is actually doing....

To put your mind as ease just do some logs and lower the timing numbers significantly in one of the maps and see which ones affect which style of driving....ie....WOT and partial throttle...make the first one all 0 in the higher load cells.....and the second one leave the peak numbers alone and go from there...this is just a stab in the dark....

I am not talking about the Evo 8 high and low octane ignition maps. I am talking about the 9 THREE high octane ignition maps. I hope that we are talking about the same thing.

I don't touch 1 or 3. 1 is suppose to be for warm up, and 3 is suppose to be for limp mode.

What do you exactly mean with timing profile??

I don't change the low octane maps at all.

Timing profile is what timing do you have in your maps per rpm. Thanks for the help with this. I just took delivery of my 9 today

I had thought that the other two maps (1, 3) were for situations like before certain water temps and such.

This is what I've heard as well. Do all of the maps in 3's fall into this same pattern (WGDC)?

Congrats

Right now, my map is not complete, but heres ya go...

3.5k 240=3 260=2

5K 220=8

6K 200=11

7K 200=13/14

Like I said this isn't complete. Also, boost 22psi @ peak. AFR in low 11s/high 10s.
