I am running into some knock issues up high... quite a bit of knock as well..
EVO 8

First Map is with a -4/-1.5 Camshaft Adjustment
Second is with 0/0 Camshaft
Third is with +2/+1 Camshaft

I currently installed Helix 272 cams w/ adj Camgears. Other Mods are K&N Intake, DC Sports DP (no cat) Greddy EVO2 Exhaust, Walbro 255, New Plugs a step colder than stock. Also running a 30/70 mix of 100/92 octane

Dude what timing are you pushing on top? Lower it and work your way up, adjusting afr's too. What do they look like?

 

that was my guess.. I am going to pull the current map that was flashed for the car tomorrow when I get home from work... thankfully I have the eclipse to drive!

 

Maybe richen it up if you can't get timing to work... but go for timing adjustments first, how much boost are you running?

 

Throw away that intake...

 

i am running about 20.5 psi and the intake has been working well for me for quite a while... prior to the cams I had no knock and much higher HP numbers than many with similar mods.. thanks everyone!

 

are you doing all of the tuning yourself? Sounds to me like a safe level of PSI, looks like you need to do some major timing/fuel map adjustments

 

Well I am learning just like you Shawn . You have a wideband no? What are the AFRs looking like? Also could you do a run at WOT from 2500rpm to 7500rpm or so? In these logs you are going through the rpm range but TPS never seems to be 100 end to end.

I mean even without WOT the knock seems a bit high. Its also high at high rpm which from what I understand is not good.

 

No i am not doing all the tuning myself.. I have had a base/road flash and I am tweaking it here and there..

Codgi - The AFR's look good... 12.1 and below (lowest was a 10.2 at about 7200ish) and those were all third gear runs from about 3000-7000 at WOT. I am going to look at the Timing on my map compared to a stock 8 map.

Anyone have a stock 05 Map?
