Mail Flash: Ok Or Not?
mitsulogger is free and so is Logworks 2 I also highly recommend downloading the OBD2 scan tool from aktivematrix along with the mitsulogger . You'll thank me when you have to reset CEL . When you get more into tuning, download the map tracer from the Ecuflash forum here, it will help determine knock and load cell for you.
Logworks 2 from Innovate is more complex to set things up in. If you get their Lc-1 wideband, it will log that data too. Dataloglab is very nice and displays nice graphs, from any csv file, and only costs $50.
For my purposes, I use Mitsulogger and look at the scanned data in Excel, then graph stuff if necessary. I compare power runs in datalog lab. I would say Mitsulogger gets about 90 % usage of my time.
HAHA i just noticed i graduated to evolving member after 10 months ( i only post good info ;-) )

I have tuned many hundreds of not thousands of mail in reflashes and they have worked very well in terms of reliability and saftey and also performance
wise
I set up each tune to match the individual mods of the customer's car - location and fuel used based upon my 4 years experience tuning Evos all over the USA
The mail in service is $199 shipped fed ex
For those who have a taxtrix cable I do the same service in a E FLASH! with one free adjustment for much less (pm for pricing)
Either way the base maps I provide work very well and are a simple hassel free way to get your car tuned for popular upgrade set ups

I don't recommend e-tuning, unless you are using a wideband o2s and your tuner allows more than one adjustment. If you don't have these things, finda local tuner. It's just not safe unless you can see your AFR's and are given the oppertunity to get everything as close as possible.
TBBH, in order to get things right and as safe as possible, a lot more than one free adjustment will need to be made, and of course you will need to be logging wideband data.
Because of these issues above, im really against mail in flashes, unless they are extremly conservative. But for the price of some mail in flashes, you would be better off saving up for a custom tune, especially considering the minimal performance gain(keep in mind, it has to be extremly conservative to be safe in this form).

i had an email flash from jestr on my car and logged timing, rpm, and tps with a pocketlogger. sent him the logs, got a revised map, car ran good, strong. just recently went for a custom tune from CBRD, and the email flash had 0 knock, and made good power. CBRD was impressed, said it was probrably the best mail-in or email flash he's seen come in. i even got a discount on the custom tune due to the flash i had on there being so good.
I just got done working with "4 wheel slide" on my 91octane map, let me tell you his prices are unbeatable. He will not only help you with your new map he will walk you threw everything you need to know about putting the new map into the car and how to datalog safely.
also, i have a few mods on my car right now (invidia O2 housing, downpipe, test pipe and catback from miltek, i/c upper pipe with HKS ssq BOV and EIDS), but i'm willing to put more (nissei lower i/c pipe, apexi power intake and to recirculate the bov because of the ineficient fuel consumption). So, my question is: is it better to resoft after I put the last ones or before? My logic opinion is after mods. But I wait for suggestions. 10x everybody, you are a real help!

an e-mail tune can be just as good as a road tune IF the tuner you decide to go with takes his time and works with you to ensure that it's perfect. If he loads up a generic base map and doesn't customize it to your car it could be dangerous or down on power. I have a link in my sig that explains my procedure in detail, it should give you an idea about how it works.

i don't know about that. my car did pretty good off a jestr email falsh after he adjusted it once with logs. i recieved a discount on my custom tune since his e-tune was close to what i needed already.
Thats an ignorant statement. What exactly it will do for you? Once you have actually used one, you will be able to speak intelligently with first hand experience about the subject.
A e-tune that you can get adjusted numerous times is almost as good as a custom tune. You log, tuner reviews logs, makes changes, you upload new MAP, log, tuner reviews logs, makes adjsutments to MAP, you upload.......get the point. It is a custom tune for your car the tuner just looks at the logs via email.
TTP keep up the good work.
