Chaps, I've just been out and tried the settings I posted above, and no pops and bangs, no matter what I did. I think there must be something missing between the JDM 8 and JDM 9 settings, as they've just been copied across on the settings above.

I also tried some settings with very aggressive timing retard on lift of (-10 and 0) and got the odd pop and bang, but nothing like what I have heard on JDM 9s, which sound like an anti-aircraft gun firing!

I am definitely getting bangs on the stationary rev limiter though, my boost gauge pulsed between 0.45 and 0.5 bar with the banging tonight!

Haven't tried that, but I was well over 24 kph or mph for a lot of my runs.

Infact if it works at idle then it's not related.

Unless it's a max speed that it will work at ??

Try upping it to 100kph

I think all this time, the ALS you think you've had working is actually the stationary rev limit AKA launch control. It should always be doing that as that as its purpose is to to hold positive boost for a quick start off the line.

So your tuner friend who gave you those settings owns a JDM IX correct? Does his ALS work when moving or are you just referring to his launch control as well?

ok guys i have tried to set the KPH to 0 with no changes,
also i have found something really cool,
as I mentioned before the ecu will not allow the timing to retard beyond -5 deg
so I found the address for the timing retard limit table,

add the line below into your evo 7 base,
and set it to 255 this will allow the timing to go to -10 and makes the pops and bangs a little better

<table name="Timing Retard Limit" category="Timing" address="173f" type="1D" level="1" scaling="uint8"/>

Shows as 188 in the rom at the moment ???

Change that to 255 and it will allow -10° max or you have tested it to only -10° so far ?

I saw in an earlier post by jcsbanks that the ALS system uses separate ignition and fuel maps. What are these called as I don't think I have them listed on the USDM IX 88590013 ROM. Can you guys post up your current ROMs you are using so more heads can help decipher them?

Maybe we should hold a NetMeeting

Along shot, but...

Boost Enhancement ALS Table

It starts at 4000rpm and goes to 7000rpm

Values start at 2.50 and runs to 3.87

What are those values ?

Maybe try lowering them ????

I don't think the timing has much to do with the pops and bangs, I've heard a JDM IX with ALS on the stock ECU do a full bore launch in front of me and it lets go a quick series of almost identical bangs on the gear change, not like the odd pop and bang I'm getting.

Let's see those ROM's and defnitions guys. Post them up! I want to compare your ROM's to the USDM IX's.

Like mentioned before, this is launch control and has nothing to do with ALS. Interesting that it's doing inbetween gear shifts though so maybe this is some sort of ALS. We really need to get your friend to explain in detail how he got it to work on his JDM IX. It has to be more than just the tables we are editing.
