this is very basic but it should get you to where you can run a little more timing. then you can fine tune it from there.
Thanks Mellon! In order to get there, I'm going to need to deviate fairly far from the stock map is set up. The stock map is fairly lean in the <3000 area. Making big changes, especially in the geneal layout of the map, makes me nervous. I'll give it a shot.

keep in mind that with your cams and other mods, you're moving much more air through the engine than when it was stock, so it's normal to have to add quite a bit more fuel

or you can remove one of the fuel injectors

I agree about fixing the low end AFR. On 91, I usually set mine @ 10.9-11:1 @ 3500 rpm. Try 11.2-11.3 on 93 octane gas.

I also looked at your timing map and noticed that you have set the timing transition from 6000 rpm to 6500 rpm too abruptly. At 6000 you have 8* and 7* at load point 200 and 220. Then you raise it to 11* and 10* @ 6500 in the same load points. This unsmooth transition might trigger sudden knock. Back the 11 and 10 to 10 and 9 and do the same to the rest of the load points above 6500 rpm. That might help.

Y would u want to dump so much fuel at 3k RPM when theres little load and no where next to peak boost or Tq

+1

a big jump from 7 to 11 most likely makes it knock. ecu tries to interpolate but the gap's too big and it starts to knock.

I'm not sure why you fellas start tuning at 2k rpm when 99% of the aggressive driving you do will be starting above 3k rpm. Its not good to lug a motor like that.

in order to properly tune low rpm spool up, you have to start tuning @ 2000rpm. it does not hurt the motor at all when properly tuned.

How does one know that their AFR gauge is calibrated properly? It reads ~14.7 during closed loop and hits about 20.8% in zero throttle conditions during a cruise slow down. I ran a zero throttle calibration on it yesterday and todays log show about 0.5 lower than normal. How many of you do zero throttle calibrations and how many actually take the sensor out to do it?

I did the initial calibration with the sensor out, but after that, I never take the sensor out to do it... 14.7 in closed loop and 20.9 on a long decel or close to it means it's calibrated.

I do mine weekly.
