Tune for Walbro

I am currently tuned for the following mods

IX MR
280's
Denatured Alcohol
TBE with HFC
MBC @ 28 psi spike

What needs to be tweaked to get the Walbro in the car and running well enough until I get a tune? If I just drop it in will it run fine, just rich?

Thanks

Should run the same and be fine at least until you get it tuned.

It might run a little rich on the top end if it was having trouble getting fuel before but it will be fine.

You don't. The evo 9's came with a much better fuel pump than the evo 8's did.

I logged absolutely no difference after I dropped a walbro in my car and another IX that I tuned.

Tune so not to ruin...

Definitely tune after Mod...on 8 needed to get FP on 9 FP was OK on CAI and TBE ...until injectors. Tune / Flash cleans up even stock to make more RWHP!!!

A Retune is not needed because of the Walbro persay...a Retune is done for an adjustment of air/fuel ratio dependent on factors such as boost, timing etc.

I think your definition of retune is different than most of ours.

If you're touching the map and adjusting AFR you are re-tuning the car.

The IX doesn't need a retune or any adjustment after installing the walbro.
AFR's are the same given a fairly stock car.

So if your tune is spot on for an Evo8, and all you're doing is upgrading to Walbro 255, no re-tune is needed?

Actually no, for an 8 you will need a retune. I just did a walbro 255 on my 8.

my AFR went from an 11.8 (maxing out the old pump 105% IDC) to a 9.9:1 at one point thats almost 2 full points richer. EVO 8 will requier a retune for the walbro 255. Unless you want a boggy flat 10:1 AFR
