'03 EVO 8 tune, thoughts?
'03 EVO 8 tune, thoughts?
Not sure if this is the right place, mods move if you feel necessary.
Been tuning more and more Evo's lately, and I worked on one of our employees cars last friday.
Since I don't claim to be an Evo master, I've been taking this crazy slow. But I figured I'd ask what ya'll thought.
This is an '03 Evo 8 with a catless downpipe, catback, Ebay FMIC, intake, cams, running around 20 PSI on 93 oct.
Note, we don't use dyno corrected numbers at our shop, and the temperatures are 99+ degrees during this tune.
Personally, I think it's great! Especially for an uncorrected number. But, I'd rather here it from you guys if I'm on base, or way off.
Untuned, but with the cams, etc. I want to say the car was around 270's when it was baselined back in February (uncorrected again).

Thanks for looking!

We did, and it unstabilized. It didn't through any knock counts in Mitsulogger, but the curve clearly started to wander around as it was on the verge of misfire/detonation, plus the car felt like *** on the dyno.
Consider this.... correct that 310WHP, like every other shop in the world, and it be somewhere in the 325-335 range.
For me at least (tuning being subjective), I'd rather deliver a car that leaves 10 less HP on the table, but drives like butter, then one that is ragged, but fast.

Interesting, well to give you a form of comparison (at least as this dyno reads), we've had people here who rent our dyno for dyno days from Al from Dynoflash, to Adam over at Devo tuning (formally from AMS), and they average around 280-310 on similarly tuned cars over the last 12 months.
While that's the only bench mark I can use, it's incredible the type of numbers you've gotten! If that's the case, I want to know where they've failed!
I can crank boost, and flood the car with fuel, and it sure does go up in power fast, but maybe I'm just used to how Subaru's drive, and I'm trying to tune Evo's to that standard. Wrongfully, maybe, but nonetheless.
Thanks for the input!
