Ecuflash - Actual performance increase?

Hi Guys

This is my first post so hope I am in the right place.

I drive a Evo 9 and am in the process of getting a Rom flash from a
really great tuner here.

My only mods are a full exhaust system and a K&N drop in filter.

My question is, if my car does 0-200 kph in around 20 seconds now
from a high revving launch, how much do you think my time will improve
after the flash is installed?

Will a flash actually give you a significantly faster car or does it mainly
make the engine run better? Does anyone have before and after times
to discuss?

The stock ROM is designed for safety, low octane fuel (ie 91), and for the stock parts.

A larger exhaust and better flowing filter allow a tuner to safely take the car to a more aggressive level. If you have access to higher octane fuel such as 93 or higher, then you can see large differences in performance with only a tune.

I suggest you continue to browse and search the forums, as there's a ton of useful information on here.

A stock Evo dyno's around 240-260.. With a good turboback, drop-in, mbc, and a good tune you could be in the 300-320 range. So yes, 50-60 extra whp will be quite noticeable. Of course you may already have 20 of these hp with the mods alone but the tune and additional boost will really set the car free. Who's the tuner?

Oh yea, get an MBC before you get tuned unless he's going to tune the stock bcs for you.

It will depends of how your flash will but you obviously will get power.

Dialing in the ECU for your specific environment will make power .. hands down. The tune will allow you to run increased boost levels which almost always makes power. Your fuel and timing curves will be dialed in correctly and will keep you clear of knock, and therefore away from the ECU's power-robbing knock correction methods.

Thanks for the great replies.

So the problem down here in Cape Town is that the fuel is 95 Ron unleaded. I think this is a really low rating (similar to 91 Mon).

The tune I am getting doesent really increase boost but rather leans out the AFR and ramps up timing a little.

So far the greatest joy has been going from 0-200kph in 23.5 second when the car was bone stock, to around 20 seconds with just the exhaust and filter.

I can't wait to see if the tune can shave a few extra seconds of this time!

If I don't get significantly improved performance will an mbc do the trick?

ok.. sorry ... 230-250 better? I was guessing without doing a search for a stock Evo dyno and I've never did any pulls when mine was stock. the point is that there is power to be had from better tuning. sorry, my apologies for in-accurate numbers.
