how-to: ECU-based direct boost control
I second this notion, would be a very nice utility, but would you be able to set up two limits, or at least have the alt map ignore the limit?
I've been trying to get this dialed into my car for the last couple of days. WOT 3rd gear pull works like a charm, BoostError is ~0.0-0.5 all the way through the boost curve to redline.
5th gear is a different story though, if im on the freeway at ~5k and I go WOT the boost will overshoot and BEC doesnt take affect. My target is 21psi but it will overshoot to 25+ on a rolling 5th gear pull. I have included my tables, any pointers would be awesome...I've tried lowering the WGDC but then it becomes too low for boosting in other gears. This is for a bbk on 91, no meth yet so keeping boost reasonably safe.

Fuel cut is always a bad idea. It is very hard on parts. You won't be over boosting on a properly configured ECU based boost control anyways so its really a non issue. If you aren't comfortable in your skills you may want to hook up a monitor light connected to a pressure switch to alert you that your overboosting. Another option is to have a pressure switch drop out the power to your ignition coils. Spark cut is much easier on parts. Fuel cut will just cause the cylinders to go lean and possibly break parts if you were/are on the edge of breaking parts anyways.

I was just getting ready to say what justboosted said. As far as the spark not fuel I understand, but the stock ecu doesn't do it that way and unless someone can change that..(hint hint) I'm not going to wire in some BS switch for it, only to have it cause issues later on.
I'm perfectly comfortable with my skills and the ecu's control, but there are mechanical things that can easily happen beyond the ecu's control, and thats where I'd like for it to at least do something.

It'd be reallly superb to have it set as a PSI based cut, and to have higher than the 319 equivalent. Would really be superb if there could be an alternate one as well for the alternate maps, but I'm sure thats quite involved..
