96420008 is not interchangeable with 94170008. Anyone think of a more common 03-04 that has support done that might work? Or is this more an 05 type ROM and I need to go that way?

Why do you want to change from 96420008? Thats what I run in my VIII. Any issues with it?

I think as a general rule of thumb, if you run a rom ID 94170008 for example, then it's safe to run any 9417XXXX version rom.

it looks like the first 4 numbers are a project version, and the last 4 didgits are reserved for the build number. I know that other car companies follow that medodology, it makes sense for mitsubishi to do the same.
