Is my NLTS working right?

Alright. Went out & tested it this for the final time.

My settings are:

Speed Threshold: 30k/m
TPS Threshold: 95%
RPM Drop: 1700rpm

Video of how its supposed to work : http://youtube.com/watch?v=k9N7liGEC-k

Ok, in the video you see when he shifts, its like hitting the 2-step or rev limiter causing the boost to stay up. Well, when I am 100% throttle, and then hit the clutch, my rpms just fall down normally (even though im 100% throttle) and the car acts like I just depressed the clutch & coming to a stop. It does not give me the 'bah bah bah' 2-step action like you see in the video.

When I had the setting set to default settings of 70% TPS Threshold and 1500rpm drop, I only get on it once... and the rpms DID do the 2-step bah bah bah deal & kept boost up amazingly well.

Right now, the car seems to be keeping the boost up just like normal shifting. I mean... the car is MUCH smoother to drive than actually lifting...everything is dead on and there is NO jerking of the car back & forth like a typical shift would do for you, its very smooth, but thats not exactly what I was wanting this for. A 1700rpm drop is perfect for my car (so it seems like) as thats how far my rpms drop when normally shifting bc im not making that much power. (About 300whp)

So what am I doing wrong here to not allow the car too get the 2-step like feature when shifting? Like I said, its working to SOME extent because my rpms are dropping at WOT, but they drop like I just put in the clutch and not exactly keeping my boost up.

*Update*
Just went & logged the NLTS. First log, I tried to keep shifts right at 7000 and nothing over. I had a few 1 and 2s of knock throughout the power band but nothing that NLTS caused.

Second log, I didnt care to shoot straight for 7000, but a little bit over... I got massive amounts of knock... even one 16 count. Here is both logs.

http://417racing.com/ryan/ryanlogs/nlts1.csv
http://417racing.com/ryan/ryanlogs/nlts2.csv

I did some logging the other day... and got the same results. If I shift at 7000 or under, I get no knock. If I shift over 7000rpm, I get massive amounts of knock.... and once it hits knock, it carries it through ALL the gears. I got a 17 count of knock on that run.

WTF... people need to be aware that if untuned in that area specifically for NLTS, it can cause catastrophic failure.

I'm pretty sure that he is getting the 2 step (bah bah bah on the limiter) because his drop is set to 100rpm so he is actually hitting the limiter on the shift. With yours set at 1700rpm drop you would have to be shifting incredibly slow to actually hit that limiter. I have mine set at a drop of 750rpm and it seems to work very well, the boost stays up and it is nice and smooth. However, I don't get a 2step sound as the I am back in gear before the motor comes down to the limiter. Try a smaller drop and see if that fixes the problem.

And the amount of power the car is making has no bearing on the amount of drop between shifts. The transmission determines that so whether you are making 300whp or 600whp it will drop the same amount.

your two step rpm drop is to much. just like mfr said, because the engine needs to drop 1700 rpm, its not injecting fuel or not sparking (don't know how tepra has implimented it) when it is slowing the engine down. once the engine speed gets below the threshold, then it gives fuel and spark again. thats why the engine will make the bah bah bah sound. its the rpms going up and down over that limiter. sense you delta rpm is so big, it takes a very very slow shift to give the rpm time to actually fall below the 1700 rpm so that it can start up again and do the bah bah sound.

I see... so your saying that if I shift at 7000rpm and I set the rpm on nlts to say, 1000, after the rpms drop 1000 it will hit like a 2-step would? Essentially if shifting at 7k, after 1k drop, at 6000RPM it will begin the 2-step sound?

Well, that still doesnt tell me whats going on with the knock im having though. Ill reflash my car with a new rpm drop tomorrow & log it and see if that makes a difference.

correct it would make the gun shot noise at 6000 rpms, you wont ever hear that noise unless the rpms have time to drop to limiter. and as far as the knock goes i would say that when you hit the limiter for too long that maybe it causes knock from the fuel being cut and then reactivated? i know that i wont get any knock if i shift quick enough to avoid hearing the gun shot noise, but if i d end up hitting the limiter then there willl usually be knock. can your tuner fix it? i say no because its not going to happen everytime. i have mine set at 95% and 1000 rpm drop, try it out and good luck. hope this helped in the slightest bit
