Look at my logs....Whats wrong?

Im confused. None of my logs are consistent. I just did 4 logs. Here are 3 and 4 next to each other. Why am i going from virtually a knock free tune to 2 minutes later, 4 counts of knock?

91oct.
Evo IX w/ TBE (TP), 02, intake. Blitz ID3 22psi holding 21.3 at redline.

If you guys want to offer any other advice on my logs, that would be much appreciated. Thanks

thats what happens when you push your car on 91oct.
always do 3 consecutive logs to see whats really going on.
are you tuned? what do your afrs look like?

what gear are you using for logging, and where all logs done in the same gear? and i would start your logg from 3k instead of 2000 rpms...that just seems a little low and it proilly bogs a little.

Car got an awesome tune from a very reputable tuner. I'm just tweaking my timing.
I did 4 consecutive logs, these are logs 3 and 4.
All logs done in 3rd gear. A/F is 10.9 from 3600-redline.

the tune is fine. you can give it a more conservative tune, but you will be slower. if it really bothers you, ask your tuner to make it more conservative, but you'll never get rid of that occasional knock... unless youre like super ultra conservative (read slow).

everyone has a different tuning philosophy... but if you're asking me - if it did that once every 5 pulls - i would be happy with it.

ok, what is the rule of thumb for knock sums. How many and how high of a count is acceptable?
Like if i wanted to tune on the edge, but still be safe?
thanks guys

well anythiing over 3 counts and the ecu pulls timing. if you're regularly knocking over 5 sums, that would be my rule of thumb for taking out timing.

i wouldn't "ride the knock sensor" thats not exactly a safe tune, but if most of your pulls result in 0 to 1 count throughout the rpm, i would call it a day.

if its enough knock to pull timing, its effecting performance....just look at it that way.

You are running too much boost by redline. There isn't much gain to be had above 19-20 psi of boost on the stock turbo especially on 91 octane.

Drop your boost by 1 psi and increase your timing by about 1* and see if that helps your knock problem.

We also do not know what your AFR is. You migh be too lean and that might trigger knock.

that boost level is fine on 91 octane.....and yes there is gain above 20 psi on the stock turbo. ive seen better gains with more boost and less timing, and i tune alot of evos. Of course there is a happy medium, on 91 octane i usually tune evo 9s on 22 psi.

True with VIII's, but NJ knows his stuff for tuning IX's on 91, I'd try that first

AFR is 11.5 at apoolup. 10.9 from 3500 on, tapering to 10.4ish at redline.
Do you think my car can be just as powerful on 21psi with advanced timing?

If i run 21psi, it will hold close to 21 psi at redline, its just the way my EBC works.

Is there some trick to get data log lab to read my evoscan files. Id love to compare 22 vs 21 psi with some graphs. What file type do i select for DLL at startup?
Thanks guys
