He will give you a source snapshot if you bug him enough. I have one from mid 2006 that I did get built for linux, but the I/O code didn't work and it was _not_ stable. That was, coincidentally, the same code that I used for the Mac teaser screenshots from around the same time.

One option is libmut; while raw, it may do the job; I haven't had a chance to spend much time with it yet.
Oh it works. It's a standard autoconf/automake build system. ./configure && make and go. You can code an interface in C or any of the languages supported by SWIG (python, perl, ruby, tcl, java, scheme...pike :-p )

*grin* I was only interested in the Python bindings, but good to know LPC is an option. (I haven't heard of someone using Pike in a looooong time, good times.) I'd gotten it built without any hassle, but hadn't had a chance to test it out with the cable yet.

But, this is way off-topic for the original thread, so I'll hush up now.
