Bought a car with a scrambled map
Well,,, It's 4:24am and my 'search button' is worn out...
I have a scrambled ecu in my car as well... Just bought the car 3 weeks ago. I've read the posts on this issue and I just can't seem to crack it.
I would love to email my rom to one of you pros and get started on tuning this car tommorrow.
I originally decided to flash the car myself using ecuflash because I love the flexibility. I've tuned AEM, AFC 1 & 2, VPC/GCC, DSMlink etc-etc... I feel like this software is a great option. Of course with my luck I end up with a scrambled ecu to start with. My evo is an 03-- but I'm sure It's not the original ecu in the car, so that makes me double confused. (car had aem before I bought it and the original computer was sold) Car has cossie 272's, full 3"tbe, afpr, metal headgasket with arp's, injen intake kit, twin 255's with the larger fuel line, stock turbo and intercooler for now. Car pulls strong but idles like crap(stalls here and there).
Can one of you guys please walk me through this procedure?? I already downloaded the hex editor and tried that route. One of the threads had screenshots that link to places on the ecuflash that I can't access (I've already tried upping the user settings)...
I'm ready to start all over again from scratch.
Is it possible to just upload a stock map onto my car and just start all over again?? I'm just not sure if I can overwrite my immobilizer code onto the new rom and tune from there. Come to think of it, I'm not sure if the immobilizer code that I'm getting from my scrambled rom is even the right one!
EDIT____-----_______________________
I forgot to add that the ECU shows
EVO 8
2005
Internal ID: 96940011
hex is set to 0001.

What are you talking about? It helps to know that your car is an IX, that makes it easier.
Just download the rom via ECU flash, save it somewhere, call it scrambledIXrom.hex or something.
Go download xvi32 (hex editor program): http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delph...vi32/xvi32.htm
Launch xvi32, open the rom file you saved from your car.
Address -> Go To Address and put in hex $F52.
Type in the hex value: 88 59 00 15
Now save it as a NEW NAME, call it unscrambledIXrom.hex.
Now open that file in EcuFlash and voila, unscrambled maps!
It is literally just that easy. If that does not work, try some other romIDs that might have come for your car, search this forum for those.
