JohnBradley,

Here is the information that BC provided:

BC0122 EVO IX cams
Advertised duration – 280 / 280
Duration@.050” - 218 / 216
Valve lift – 10.8 mm / 10.36 mm
No timing events available due to variable intake cam.
I am seen ~266 Load at peak TQ at ~4500 and 24 PSI.

The first instance at load 270 is at around 3500 RPMS and 21-22 PSI Boost.

Is that all the information that you need or you need anything else? Let me know if that answer your questions!

Unfortunately Joe, other than the exhaust cam being on a 106* centerline (like the VIII) it makes it kind of difficult to guesstimate where they should be.

So as I understand it, right now you are on a stock MIVEC map? What I would do is slowly advance it at peak torque and near (3500-4500) a few degrees at a time. I have seen gains of 30% load with just 4-5* change depending on the cams. I am reasonably sure the low end advance shouldnt be less than 19.2* at peak torque, though the JDM RS might be too much.

Let me see if I can find some more info on the cams that might useful and get back to you through PM's.

Hi JohnBradley,

Yes! I am on the stock MIVEC map.

Here is:

I also found the cam card that came with the cams:

With that, you are refering advancing the table from 14.4 to 19.2 for example. Also, what RPM/Load bracket you are refering to for the "low end advance"?

Thanks for your help!

Well! I asked BC about the Lobe Centerline and LSA!

His response was that they are the same as stock.

So its 130*? Well then I should have some results back to you in a few hours. I will fire up the dynosim and let it do its thing.

Try something like this. It didnt take me very long to see a trend that because of the close centerline of the exhaust cam it wants advance but not too much. I ran it both in the advertised duration and the @ .050 measurement and came up with the same amount of advance more or less. It seems to like 0* at the top and no more than 24 or so down near spool. Notice I did rescale it a little too since these are designed for higher RPM and you dont want to "fall off" the map if you can help it.

Start with this and then send me some logs and we will see what we can do. I will PM my email or you can attach them here as a zip...either way

What boost are you seeing 270 load at peak torque and what RPM?
if u don't mind, what is this dyno sim software? what does it do?

Yeap! I upgraded the valvetrain before putting the 280 cams.

For the 272s try the one posted in post number 1.
For the 280s, try the one in post 22. Change the 19.2 to 24.0 from load 120 to 300 @ 4000 RPMs. However, there are no HKS 280s listed for the Intake (MIVEC) cam on the Evo. Link.

I ended up using the MIVEC map as explained in item number 2 on my previous post.

Also, I retarded the EX cam by 2 degrees!

What made you decide to retard the exhaust cam? Did you see a torque benefit? I'm running the same cams with the exhaust straight up right now. I used the mivec map posted in 22. I did smooth the advance around 1000 to 2000 rpm. I had a little off idle stumble on the map as posted.
