EGR patch request
EGR patch request
Guys I am looking for someone to make a EGR simulator Patch,
I dont have EGR on my car so I have to use the SAS as an EGR and it aint an ideal situation,
as sometimes I get a P0400 EGR flow fault code,
I have tried to disable the EGR test in the ecu perephery as per Bez's instructions,
but I still get this code intermittantly,
is there any way to make an egr simulator patch something like the rear o2 patch,
would be handy also for anyone using an aftermarket intake manifold???
I dont mind donating for someones time to do this,
I was going to Pm Tephra but I know he is busy with V5 maybe when he is finished he might take a look at it, see if it is possible to remove the egr code or permanantly disable it ?
Cheers

On all the Evo ROMs I've analyzed for adapting the JDM MAP sensor, disabling the EGR test is accomplished by changing the Periphery2 value from 0xHFHH to 0xHDHH where H are whatever hex values are shown in your Periphery (e.g., on a USDM Evo 8, 0xEFDF -> 0xEDDF). There are other ways to stop the CEL as well. Another way would be to set the comparison value to 0.

thats interesting I thought the perephery 3 was for the EGR test well according to bez's perephery calculator,
my perephery 2 is 8A88
my perephery 3 is 0300
and changing perephery 3 to 0100 would disable the egr test???
also where is this comparison value ????

with over riding the egr like this and being able to remove it will you still be able to pass emissions?? there is no cel light but does it still say the ecu checked and passed the egr
they dont care about how it does it just as long as the emissions are within acceptable limits,
also I will just refit the cat should be fine,
well i have a perrin o2 sim and no cat on the car. and no codes. so will i still pass??

And it seems that the Evo V ROM is quite a bit different than the USDM 8's and 9's. What I did to track down the bit that controls the EGR test was to make changes to the periphery, and then use Scan Tech to check whether the EGR test had been disabled. I had a pretty good idea of where to look to start, so it didn't take me long. Might take longer for you.
Do you understand that the periphery values represent 16 bits with each bit potentially controlling whether some feature is enabled or disabled?
I've never tried Bez periphery calculator, but if you're still getting an EGR cel after changing it according to the calculator, its probably not right for your car.

I fully understand how the perepherys work,
do you suggets switch the bits off one at a time until the egr test is off???
what was that comparison you were talking about setting to 0 ???
oh right thats how it knows hmmmm interesting,
any way round it ???
suppose its find the perephery bit and shut it off ???????
my perephery is 56D0
my perephery 1 is 0009
my perephery 2 is 8A89
my perephery 3 is 0300
I have just connected pin 6 to 53 (so that the sas is working, as I was told this will help with the pops and bangs), but now getting the EGR cel, so need to disable this function too
