So i plan on doin a self tune...few questions
first of all, thanks to mellon for a great tune, ...however tunes do get pricey when you add more and more mods, so i want to kinda do my own.
did a few pulls yesterday, than on the last one i was hittin like 11 counts knock but i figured that was because my gas was on low, so i may have been sucking up fumes...
anywho, my question is, should the timing constantly increase, meaning right now, it will go from 4 to 3 to 4 to 5 to 6 to 5..
should it be smoothely like 3 4 5 6 7....

timing is relative to load so when you're cruising it's very high but as you get into boost the timing tapers down sharply towards peak loads...as the load drops off the timing comes up.
that's why you're seeing the value go down first then back up...that's normal

Hey MELLON
Yea it drops to 2... Than climbs to 15.....but throughout the climb it will drop a number than go back up
However looks like that was related to knock
On a final run it went from 2 to 15
Straight threw no knock

Ideally you want your timing to all be steps forward after that initial drop.
I don't mean every entry in your log should be an increment in timing, it can also be unchanged, just no steps back.
But that being said, it's pretty common to see what you have. If you can tune your car to have a pretty constant load then it'll get easier to get rid of backward steps in timing.

+1
Generally, you want timing to increase with revs at WOT. Some cars will run in to odd knock issues if they are especially sensitive and you may need to pull timing at a certain RPM to combat that. Other than that rare instance it should be a smooth upward climb.
