Speed Sensor Question

So I know that there is a way to turn off the rear O2 sensor on the VIIIs, now my question is: is the vehicle speed sensor able to be turned off/removed and the code disabled? Does the speed sensor play any role in fuel cut/boost cut? I know by now that you guys are wondering why I've asked. The reason behind my asking is that my boss is building a drift evo that uses a short track(nascar) transmission and wants to use his factory ECU to run the car. He's trying to make the car as reliable as possible and he doesn't want to have to get an AEM to run the car. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes and no.

There is a table for speed limit cut that would require the VSS to be functional but its set to 510 km/h so thats not an issue. Secondly, not that you need it, but the stationary rev limiter (the misnamed 2 step) wouldnt funtion either.

is there anything other than those 2 items that would require the VSS for the Ecu to function properly and be reliable?
