What can I do with OpenECU software?

I am thinking about getting a ECU Flash by sending my ECU to ThroughTheMail LLC to flash my ECU. I came across this forum about EcuFlash in Evo Engine Managment and seem like it might be the same thing they'll be doing that'll cost me $250. They guaranteed 20whp and 20 lbs of torque. Any help?

Talk to one of the resident tuners - it will be cheaper + you wont loose your ECU + custom tune!

So you're recommending me to have someone locally or close to me tune my ecu? I know I would hate to messed up my ecu as well.... that would suck

you sound like a complete newb, no offense intended.

i recommend Mellon, because he takes the time to explain the whole process to you. The knowledge he will give you is worth the money spent using his tuning services. Otherwise you can just go with any of the online vendors here that have an e-mail flashing service. I use jestr.

Yeah, I'm a newbie on tuning the ecu. So how much does Jestr charge for the email tuning? With Jestr, do I have to flash my ecu myself using the openecu software and getting a cable too?

If you do an e-mail type flash make sure your working with a tuner that will datalog your car after loading the new flash (check for knock). As far as numbers, 20whp/20tq is very conservative.

you can't do anything with the ecuflash software alone. You'll need Tactrix cable, at least wideband to monitor air/fuel then get back here. Depend on how you want it. You can learn to tune your own by reading a lot of tuning information here so that you'll not mess up your car. Or you can do the email flash way by purchasing a service and keep logging, sending your log to the remote tuner and reflashing his map back to your car until it's good. Either way please make sure you have some way to monitor the car and understand what is going on.

thanks everyone for the votes of confidence, I appreciate that!

Evolninja, it's best to go with one of the vendors on the forum, that way you have some recourse should there be a problem.

check out www.mellontuning.com to learn about the process, I have links to the equipment you need and even a video tutorial to get you up to speed quickly.

let me know if you have any questions and thanks for your interest in Mellon Tuning!

The tuner poll is located here:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=318772

Our $49.99 eflash product would be the most effective use of money for performance in your Evolution. We will walk you through the process and have unlimited reviews of any datalogs.

The product is available here:

Feedback ratings are a good indication of other customer experiences with a particular vendor. I recommend you review anyone's feedback number next to their screen name and get a feel for the type of company you are dealing with, prior to purchase.

Our feedback ratings are listed here:

Thanks
TTP
